3 New English Bible (New Testament) Passage New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26)

3 1YOU STUPID GALATIANS! You must have been bewitched—you before whose eyes Jesus Christ was openly displayed upon his cross!Law or Faith Ga.3.1-14Ὦ ἀνόητοι Γαλάται, τίς ὑμᾶς ἐβάσκανεν, οἷς κατ' ὀφθαλμοὺς Ἰησοῦς Χριστὸς προεγράφη ἐσταυρωμένος;
2Answer me one question: did you receive the Spirit by keeping the law or by believing the gospel message? Or: or by the message of faith; Or: or by hearing and believing.  τοῦτο μόνον θέλω μαθεῖν ἀφ' ὑμῶν, ἐξ ἐργων νόμου τὸ Πνεῦμα ἐλάβετε ἢ ἐξ ἀκοῆς πίστεως;
3Can it be that you are so stupid? You started with the spiritual; do you now look to the material to make you perfect? οὑτως ἀνόητοί ἐστὲ ἐναρξάμενοι πνεύματι νῦν σαρκὶ ἐπιτελεῖσθὲ;
4Have all your great experiences been in vain—if vain indeed they should be? I ask then: τοσαῦτα ἐπάθετε εἰκῇ; εἰ γε καὶ εἰκῇ.
5when God gives you the Spirit and works miracles among you, why is this? Is it because you keep the law, or is it because you have faith in the gospel message? ὁ οὖν ἐπιχορηγῶν ὑμῖν τὸ Πνεῦμα καὶ ἐνεργῶν δυνάμεις ἐν ὑμῖν ἐξ ἐργων νόμου ἢ ἐξ ἀκοῆς πίστεως;
6Look at Abraham: he put his faith in God, and that faith was counted to him as righteousness.
- Thus Abraham believed God Ga.3.6 | Gn.15.6καθὼς Ἀβραὰμ ἐπίστευσεν τῷ θεῷ, καὶ ἐλογίσθη αὐτῷ εἰς δικαιοσύνην.
7You may take it, then, that it is the men of faith who are Abraham's sons. Γινώσκετε ἀρα ὅτι οἱ ἐκ πίστεως, οὗτοι υἱοί εἰσιν Ἀβραάμ.
8And Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles through faith, declared the Gospel to Abraham beforehand: 'In you all nations shall find blessing.'- In you shall all the nations be blessed Ga.3.8 | Gn.12.3προϊδοῦσα δὲ ἡ γραφὴ ὅτι ἐκ πίστεως δικαιοῖ τὰ ἐθνη ὁ θεὸς προευηγγελίσατο τῷ Ἀβραὰμ ὅτι Ἐνευλογηθήσονται ἐν σοὶ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη.
9Thus it is the men of faith who share the blessing with faithful Abraham.
 ὡστε οἱ ἐκ πίστεως εὐλογοῦνται σὺν τῷ πιστῷ Ἀβραάμ.
10On the other hand those who rely on obedience to the law are under a curse; for Scripture says, 'A curse is on all who do not persevere in doing everything that is written in the Book of the Law.'- Cursed be every one who does not abide by all things written in the book Ga.3.10 | Dt.27.26ὁσοι γὰρ ἐξ ἐργων νόμου εἰσὶν ὑπὸ κατάραν εἰσίν· γέγραπται γὰρ ὅτι Ἐπικατάρατος πᾶς ὃς οὐκ ἐμμένει πᾶσιν τοῖς γεγραμμένοις ἐν τῷ βιβλίῳ τοῦ νόμου τοῦ ποιῆσαι αὐτά.
11It is evident that no one is ever justified before God in terms of law; because we read, 'he shall gain life who is justified through faith'.- He who through faith is righteous shall live Ga.3.11 | Hab.2.4ὁτι δὲ ἐν νόμῳ οὐδεὶς δικαιοῦται παρὰ τῷ θεῷ δῆλον, ὅτι Ὁ δίκαιος ἐκ πίστεως ζήσετα·
12Now law is not at all a matter of having faith: we read, 'he who does this shall gain life by what he does'.
- He who does them shall live by them Ga.3.12 | Lv.18.5ὁ δὲ νόμος οὐκ ἐστιν ἐκ πίστεως, ἀλλ' Ὁ ποιήσας αὐτὰ ζήσεται ἐν αὐτοῖς.
13Christ bought us freedom from the curse of the law by becoming for our sake an accursed thing; for Scripture says, 'A curse is on everyone who is hanged on a gibbet.'- Cursed be every one who hangs on a tree Ga.3.13 | Dt.21.23Χριστὸς ἡμᾶς ἐξηγόρασεν ἐκ τῆς κατάρας τοῦ νόμου γενόμενος ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν κατάρα, ὅτι γέγραπται, Ἐπικατάρατος πᾶς ὁ κρεμάμενος ἐπὶ ξύλου,
14And the purpose of it all was that the blessing of Abraham should in Jesus Christ be extended to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.
