3 katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE Passage New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26)

3 1O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified? Law or Faith Ga.3.1-14Ὦ ἀνόητοι Γαλάται, τίς ὑμᾶς ἐβάσκανεν, οἷς κατ' ὀφθαλμοὺς Ἰησοῦς Χριστὸς προεγράφη ἐσταυρωμένος;
2Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law, or by hearing with faith?  τοῦτο μόνον θέλω μαθεῖν ἀφ' ὑμῶν, ἐξ ἐργων νόμου τὸ Πνεῦμα ἐλάβετε ἢ ἐξ ἀκοῆς πίστεως;
3Are you so foolish? Having begun with the Spirit, are you now ending with the flesh?  οὑτως ἀνόητοί ἐστὲ ἐναρξάμενοι πνεύματι νῦν σαρκὶ ἐπιτελεῖσθὲ;
4Did you experience so many things in vain? - if it really is in vain.
5Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith? ὁ οὖν ἐπιχορηγῶν ὑμῖν τὸ Πνεῦμα καὶ ἐνεργῶν δυνάμεις ἐν ὑμῖν ἐξ ἐργων νόμου ἢ ἐξ ἀκοῆς πίστεως;
6Thus Abraham "believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness."
7So you see that it is men of faith who are the sons of Abraham.
8And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "In you shall all the nations be blessed." - In you shall all the nations be blessed Ga.3.8 | Gn.12.3προϊδοῦσα δὲ ἡ γραφὴ ὅτι ἐκ πίστεως δικαιοῖ τὰ ἐθνη ὁ θεὸς προευηγγελίσατο τῷ Ἀβραὰμ ὅτι Ἐνευλογηθήσονται ἐν σοὶ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη.
9So then, those who are men of faith are blessed with Abraham who had faith.
10For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, "Cursed be every one who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law, and do them." - Cursed be every one who does not abide by all things written in the book Ga.3.10 | Dt.27.26ὁσοι γὰρ ἐξ ἐργων νόμου εἰσὶν ὑπὸ κατάραν εἰσίν· γέγραπται γὰρ ὅτι Ἐπικατάρατος πᾶς ὃς οὐκ ἐμμένει πᾶσιν τοῖς γεγραμμένοις ἐν τῷ βιβλίῳ τοῦ νόμου τοῦ ποιῆσαι αὐτά.
11Now it is evident that no man is justified before God by the law; for "He who through faith is righteous shall live"; - He who through faith is righteous shall live Ga.3.11 | Hab.2.4ὁτι δὲ ἐν νόμῳ οὐδεὶς δικαιοῦται παρὰ τῷ θεῷ δῆλον, ὅτι Ὁ δίκαιος ἐκ πίστεως ζήσετα·
12but the law does not rest on faith, for "He who does them shall live by them." - He who does them shall live by them Ga.3.12 | Lv.18.5ὁ δὲ νόμος οὐκ ἐστιν ἐκ πίστεως, ἀλλ' Ὁ ποιήσας αὐτὰ ζήσεται ἐν αὐτοῖς.
13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us - for it is written, "Cursed be every one who hangs on a tree" - - Cursed be every one who hangs on a tree Ga.3.13 | Dt.21.23Χριστὸς ἡμᾶς ἐξηγόρασεν ἐκ τῆς κατάρας τοῦ νόμου γενόμενος ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν κατάρα, ὅτι γέγραπται, Ἐπικατάρατος πᾶς ὁ κρεμάμενος ἐπὶ ξύλου,
14that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Notes: This page displays passages from the katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE.
The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.

The katapi New Study Bible reference section displays links to parallel passages, and to direct quotations by New Testament authors to Old Testament passages. Quotations of OT passages by NT authors can in most cases be viewed within their context of the OT passage as a whole, with the quoted text displayed, against a subdued background. Any mismatches, truncated verses, other mistakes? Please e-mail me.
