| 13 | For we write you nothing but what you can read and understand; I hope you will understand fully, | | οὐ γὰρ ἀλλα γράφομεν ὑμῖν ἀλλ' ἢ ἂ ἀναγινώσκετε ἢ καὶ ἐπιγινώσκετε, ἐλπίζω δὲ ὅτι ἑως τέλους ἐπιγνώσεσθε, |

| 14 | as you have understood in part, that you can be proud of us as we can be of you, on the day of the Lord Jesus. | | καθὼς καὶ ἐπέγνωτε ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ μέρους, ὅτι καύχημα ὑμῶν ἐσμεν καθάπερ καὶ ὑμεῖς ἡμῶν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ. |

| 15 | Because I was sure of this, I wanted to come to you first, so that you might have a double pleasure; | | Καὶ ταύτῃ τῇ πεποιθήσει ἐβουλόμην πρότερον πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐλθεῖν, ἵνα δευτέραν χάριν σχῆτε, |

| 16 | I wanted to visit you on my way to Macedonia, and to come back to you from Macedonia and have you send me on my way to Judea. | | καὶ δῖ ὑμῶν διελθεῖν εἰς Μακεδονίαν, καὶ πάλιν ἀπὸ Μακεδονίας ἐλθεῖν πρὸς ὑμᾶς καὶ ὑφ' ὑμῶν προπεμφθῆναι εἰς τὴν Ἰουδαίαν. |

| 17 | Was I vacillating when I wanted to do this? Do I make my plans like a worldly man, ready to say Yes and No at once? | | τοῦτο οὖν βουλόμενος μήτι ἀρα τῇ ἐλαφρίᾳ ἐχρησάμην; ἢ ἂ βουλεύομαι κατὰ σάρκα βουλεύομαι, ἵνα ᾖ παρ' ἐμοὶ τὸ Ναὶ ναὶ καὶ τὸ Οὒ οὒ; |

| 18 | As surely as God is faithful, our word to you has not been Yes and No. | | πιστὸς δὲ ὁ θεὸς ὅτι ὁ λόγος ἡμῶν ὁ πρὸς ὑμᾶς οὐκ ἐστιν Ναὶ καὶ Οὐ. |

| 19 | For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we preached among you, Silvanus and Timothy and I, was not Yes and No; but in him it is always Yes. | | ὁ τοῦ θεοῦ γὰρ υἱὸς Ἰησοῦς Χριστὸς ὁ ἐν ὑμῖν δῖ ἡμῶν κηρυχθείς, δῖ ἐμοῦ καὶ Σιλουανοῦ καὶ Τιμοθέου, οὐκ ἐγένετο Ναὶ καὶ Οὐ, ἀλλὰ Ναὶ ἐν αὐτῷ γέγονεν. |

| 20 | For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why we utter the Amen through him, to the glory of God. | | ὁσαι γὰρ ἐπαγγελίαι θεοῦ, ἐν αὐτῷ τὸ Ναί· διὸ καὶ δῖ αὐτοῦ τὸ Ἀμὴν τῷ θεῷ πρὸς δόξαν δῖ ἡμῶν. |

| 21 | But it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has commissioned us; | | ὁ δὲ βεβαιῶν ἡμᾶς σὺν ὑμῖν εἰς Χριστὸν καὶ χρίσας ἡμᾶς θεός, |

| 22 | he has put his seal upon us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. | | ὁ καὶ σφραγισάμενος ἡμᾶς καὶ δοὺς τὸν ἀρραβῶνα τοῦ πνεύματος ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις ἡμῶν. |

| 23 | But I call God to witness against me - it was to spare you that I refrained from coming to Corinth. | | Ἐγὼ δὲ μάρτυρα τὸν θεὸν ἐπικαλοῦμαι ἐπὶ τὴν ἐμὴν ψυχήν, ὅτι φειδόμενος ὑμῶν οὐκέτι ἦλθον εἰς Κόρινθον. |

| 24 | Not that we lord it over your faith; we work with you for your joy, for you stand firm in your faith. | | οὐχ ὅτι κυριεύομεν ὑμῶν τῆς πίστεως, ἀλλὰ συνεργοί ἐσμεν τῆς χαρᾶς ὑμῶν, τῇ γὰρ πίστει ἑστήκατε. |

| 2 1 | For I made up my mind not to make you another painful visit. | | ἐκρινα γὰρ ἐμαυτῷ τοῦτο, τὸ μὴ πάλιν ἐν λύπῃ πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐλθεῖν· |
|
| 2 | For if I cause you pain, who is there to make me glad but the one whom I have pained? | | εἰ γὰρ ἐγὼ λυπῶ ὑμᾶς, καὶ τίς ὁ εὐφραίνων με εἰ μὴ ὁ λυπούμενος ἐξ ἐμοῦ; |

| 3 | And I wrote as I did, so that when I came I might not suffer pain from those who should have made me rejoice, for I felt sure of all of you, that my joy would be the joy of you all. | | καὶ ἐγραψα τοῦτο αὐτὸ ἵνα μὴ ἐλθὼν λύπην σχῶ ἀφ' ὧν ἐδει με χαίρειν, πεποιθὼς ἐπὶ πάντας ὑμᾶς ὅτι ἡ ἐμὴ χαρὰ πάντων ὑμῶν ἐστιν. |

| 4 | For I wrote you out of much affliction and anguish of heart and with many tears, not to cause you pain but to let you know the abundant love that I have for you. | | ἐκ γὰρ πολλῆς θλίψεως καὶ συνοχῆς καρδίας ἐγραψα ὑμῖν διὰ πολλῶν δακρύων, οὐχ ἵνα λυπηθῆτε ἀλλὰ τὴν ἀγάπην ἵνα γνῶτε ἣν ἐχω περισσοτέρως εἰς ὑμᾶς. |
