6 New English Bible (New Testament) Passage New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26)

6 1IF ONE OF YOUR NUMBER has a dispute with another, has he the face to take it to pagan law-courts instead of to the community of God's people?Going to Law before Unbelievers 1Cor.6.1-11Τολμᾷ τις ὑμῶν πρᾶγμα ἐχων πρὸς τὸν ἑτερον κρίνεσθαι ἐπὶ τῶν ἀδίκων, καὶ οὐχὶ ἐπὶ τῶν ἀγίων;
2It is God's people who are to judge the world; surely you know that. And if the world is to come before you for judgement, are you incompetent to deal with these trifling cases? ἢ οὐκ οἰδατε ὅτι οἱ ἀγιοι τὸν κόσμον κρινοῦσιν; καὶ εἰ ἐν ὑμῖν κρίνεται ὁ κόσμος, ἀνάξιοί ἐστε κριτηρίων ἐλαχίστων;
3Are you not aware that we are to judge angels? How much more, mere matters of business! οὐκ οἰδατε ὅτι ἀγγέλους κρινοῦμεν, μήτι γε βιωτικά;
4If therefore you have such business disputes, how can you entrust jurisdiction to outsiders, men who count βιωτικὰ μὲν οὖν κριτήρια ἐὰν ἐχητε, τοὺς ἐξουθενημένους ἐν τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ τούτους καθίζετὲ;
5for nothing in our community? I write this to shame you. Can it be that there is not a single wise man among you able to give a decision in a brother-Christian's cause? πρὸς ἐντροπὴν ὑμῖν λέγω. οὑτως οὐκ ἐνι ἐν ὑμῖν οὐδεὶς σοφὸς ὃς δυνήσεται διακρῖναι ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ;
6Must brother go to law with brother-and before unbelievers? ἀλλὰ ἀδελφὸς μετὰ ἀδελφοῦ κρίνεται, καὶ τοῦτο ἐπὶ ἀπίστων;
7Indeed, you already fall below your standard in going to law with one another at all. Why not rather suffer injury? Why not rather let yourself be robbed? ἠδη μὲν οὖν ὁλως ἡττημα ὑμῖν ἐστιν ὅτι κρίματα ἐχετε μεθ' ἑαυτῶν· διὰ τί οὐχὶ μᾶλλον ἀδικεῖσθὲ διὰ τί οὐχὶ μᾶλλον ἀποστερεῖσθὲ;
8So far from this, you actually injure and rob-injure and rob your brothers! ἀλλὰ ὑμεῖς ἀδικεῖτε καὶ ἀποστερεῖτε, καὶ τοῦτο ἀδελφούς.
9Surely you know that the unjust will never come into possession of the kingdom of God. Make no mistake: no fornicator or idolater, none who are guilty either of adultery or of homosexual perversion, ἢ οὐκ οἰδατε ὅτι ἀδικοι θεοῦ βασιλείαν οὐ κληρονομήσουσιν; μὴ πλανᾶσθε· οὐτε πόρνοι οὐτε εἰδωλολάτραι οὐτε μοιχοὶ οὐτε μαλακοὶ οὐτε ἀρσενοκοῖται
10no thieves or grabbers or drunkards or slanderers or swindlers, will possess the kingdom of God. οὐτε κλέπται οὐτε πλεονέκται, οὐ μέθυσοι, οὐ λοίδοροι, οὐχ ἀρπαγες βασιλείαν θεοῦ κληρονομήσουσιν.
11Such were some of you. But you have been through the purifying waters; you have been dedicated to God and justified through the name of the Lord Jesus and the Spirit of our God.
