| 21 | For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. | ἐπειδὴ γὰρ ἐν τῇ σοφίᾳ τοῦ θεοῦ οὐκ ἐγνω ὁ κόσμος διὰ τῆς σοφίας τὸν θεόν, εὐδόκησεν ὁ θεὸς διὰ τῆς μωρίας τοῦ κηρύγματος σῶσαι τοὺς πιστεύοντας. | |
| 22 | For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, | ἐπειδὴ καὶ Ἰουδαῖοι σημεῖα αἰτοῦσιν καὶ Ἑλληνες σοφίαν ζητοῦσιν, | |
| 23 | but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews - a stumbling block to Gentiles - folly, | ἡμεῖς δὲ κηρύσσομεν Χριστὸν ἐσταυρωμένον, Ἰουδαίοις μὲν σκάνδαλον ἐθνεσιν δὲ μωρίαν, | |
| 24 | but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ - the power of God - and the wisdom of God. | αὐτοῖς δὲ τοῖς κλητοῖς, Ἰουδαίοις τε καὶ Ἑλλησιν, Χριστὸν θεοῦ δύναμιν καὶ θεοῦ σοφίαν· | |
| 25 | For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. | ὁτι τὸ μωρὸν τοῦ θεοῦ σοφώτερον τῶν ἀνθρώπων ἐστίν, καὶ τὸ ἀσθενὲς τοῦ θεοῦ ἰσχυρότερον τῶν ἀνθρώπων. | |
| 26 | For consider your call, brethren; not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth; | Βλέπετε γὰρ τὴν κλῆσιν ὑμῶν, ἀδελφοί, ὅτι οὐ πολλοὶ σοφοὶ κατὰ σάρκα, οὐ πολλοὶ δυνατοί, οὐ πολλοὶ εὐγενεῖς· | |
| 27 | but God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong, | ἀλλὰ τὰ μωρὰ τοῦ κόσμου ἐξελέξατο ὁ θεὸς ἵνα καταισχύνῃ τοὺς σοφούς, καὶ τὰ ἀσθενῆ τοῦ κόσμου ἐξελέξατο ὁ θεὸς ἵνα καταισχύνῃ τὰ ἰσχυρά, | |
| 28 | God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, | καὶ τὰ ἀγενῆ τοῦ κόσμου καὶ τὰ ἐξουθενημένα ἐξελέξατο ὁ θεός, τὰ μὴ ὀντα, ἵνα τὰ ὀντα καταργήσῃ, | |
| 29 | so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. | ὁπως μὴ καυχήσηται πᾶσα σὰρξ ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ. | |
| 30 | He is the source of your life in Christ Jesus, whom God made our wisdom, our righteousness and sanctification and redemption; | ἐξ αὐτοῦ δὲ ὑμεῖς ἐστε ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ, ὃς ἐγενήθη σοφία ἡμῖν ἀπὸ θεοῦ, δικαιοσύνη τε καὶ ἀγιασμὸς καὶ ἀπολύτρωσις, | |
