9 katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE Passage New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26)

30What shall we say, then? That Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have attained it, that is, righteousness through faith;Israel and the Gospel Ro.9.30-10.4Τί οὖν ἐροῦμεν; ὅτι ἐθνη τὰ μὴ διώκοντα δικαιοσύνην κατέλαβεν δικαιοσύνην, δικαιοσύνην δὲ τὴν ἐκ πίστεως·
31but that Israel who pursued the righteousness which is based on law did not succeed in fulfilling that law.
32Why? Because they did not pursue it through faith, but as if it were based on works. They have stumbled over the stumbling stone,  διὰ τί; ὅτι οὐκ ἐκ πίστεως ἀλλ' ὡς ἐξ ἐργων· προσέκοψαν τῷ λίθῳ τοῦ προσκόμματος,
33as it is written,

"Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone that will make men stumble,
a rock that will make them fall;
and he who believes in him will not be put to shame."

- Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone Ro.9.33 | Is.28.16καθὼς γέγραπται,

10 1Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.
2I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but it is not enlightened.
3For, being ignorant of the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness.
4For Christ is the end of the law, that everyone who has faith may be justified.

Notes: This page displays passages from the katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE.
The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.

The katapi New Study Bible reference section displays links to parallel passages, and to direct quotations by New Testament authors to Old Testament passages. Quotations of OT passages by NT authors can in most cases be viewed within their context of the OT passage as a whole, with the quoted text displayed, against a subdued background.
