9 katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE Passage New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26)

19You will say to me then, "Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?" God's Wrath and Mercy Ro.9.19-29Ἐρεῖς μοι οὖν, Τί οὖν ἐτι μέμφεταὶ τῷ γὰρ βουλήματι αὐτοῦ τίς ἀνθέστηκεν;
20But who are you, a man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, "Why have you made me thus?" - Will what is molded say to its molder Ro.9.20 | Is.29.16 | Is.45.9ὦ ἄνθρωπε, μενοῦνγε σὺ τίς εἶ ὁ ἀνταποκρινόμενος τῷ θεῷ; μὴ ἐρεῖ τὸ πλάσμα τῷ πλάσαντι, Τί με ἐποίησας οὑτως;
21Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for beauty and another for menial use?- Has the potter no right over the clay Ro.9.21 | Jr.18.6ἢ οὐκ ἐχει ἐξουσίαν ὁ κεραμεὺς τοῦ πηλοῦ ἐκ τοῦ αὐτοῦ φυράματος ποιῆσαι ὃ μὲν εἰς τιμὴν σκεῦος, ὃ δὲ εἰς ἀτιμίαν;
22What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience the vessels of wrath made for destruction, εἰ δὲ θέλων ὁ θεὸς ἐνδείξασθαι τὴν ὀργὴν καὶ γνωρίσαι τὸ δυνατὸν αὐτοῦ ἠνεγκεν ἐν πολλῇ μακροθυμίᾳ σκεύη ὀργῆς κατηρτισμένα εἰς ἀπώλειαν,
23in order to make known the riches of his glory for the vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory, καὶ ἵνα γνωρίσῃ τὸν πλοῦτον τῆς δόξης αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ σκεύη ἐλέους, ἂ προητοίμασεν εἰς δόξαν,
24even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles?  οὓς καὶ ἐκάλεσεν ἡμᾶς οὐ μόνον ἐξ Ἰουδαίων ἀλλὰ καὶ ἐξ ἐθνῶν;
25As indeed he says in Hosea,

"Those who were not my people
I will call 'my people,'
and her who was not beloved
I will call 'my beloved.' "

- Those who were not my people Ro.9.25 | Hs.2.23ὡς καὶ ἐν τῷ Ὡσηὲ λέγει,

Kαλέσω τὸν οὐ λαόν μου
λαόν μου καὶ τὴν οὐκ ἠγαπημένην ἠγαπημένην·

26"And in the very place where it was said to them, 'You are not my people,'
they will be called 'sons of the living God.' "
- You are not my people Ro.9.26 | Hs.1.10καὶ ἔσται ἐν τῷ τόπῳ οὗ ἐρρέθη αὐτοῖς, Οὐ λαός μου ὑμεῖς,
ἐκεῖ κληθήσονται υἱοὶ θεοῦ ζῶντος.
27And Isaiah cries out concerning Israel:

"Though the number of the sons of Israel be as the sand of the sea,
only a remnant of them will be saved;

- only a remnant of them will be saved Ro.9.27-28 | Is.10.22-23Ἠσαΐας δὲ κράζει ὑπὲρ τοῦ Ἰσραήλ, Ἐὰν ᾖ ὁ ἀριθμὸς τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραὴλ ὡς ἡ ἄμμος τῆς θαλάσσης, τὸ ὑπόλειμμα σωθήσεται·
28for the Lord will execute his sentence upon the earth with rigor and dispatch." λόγον γὰρ συντελῶν καὶ συντέμνων ποιήσει κύριος ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς.
29And as Isaiah predicted,
    "If the Lord of hosts had not left us children, we would have fared like Sodom and been made like Gomorrah."
- If the Lord of hosts had not left us children Ro.9.29 | Is.1.9καὶ καθὼς προείρηκεν Ἠσαΐας,

Notes: This page displays passages from the katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE.
The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.

The katapi New Study Bible reference section displays links to parallel passages, and to direct quotations by New Testament authors to Old Testament passages. Quotations of OT passages by NT authors can in most cases be viewed within their context of the OT passage as a whole, with the quoted text displayed, against a subdued background. Any mismatches, truncated verses, other mistakes? Please e-mail me.
