| 20 | how I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you in public and from house to house, | ὡς οὐδὲν ὑπεστειλάμην τῶν συμφερόντων τοῦ μὴ ἀναγγεῖλαι ὑμῖν καὶ διδάξαι ὑμᾶς δημοσίᾳ καὶ κατ' οἰκους, | |
| 21 | testifying both to Jews and to Greeks of repentance to God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. | διαμαρτυρόμενος Ἰουδαίοις τε καὶ Ἑλλησιν τὴν εἰς θεὸν μετάνοιαν καὶ πίστιν εἰς τὸν κύριον ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦν. | |

| 26 | Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all of you, | διότι μαρΤύρομαι ὑμῖν ἐν τῇ σήμερον ἡμέρᾳ ὅτι καθαρός εἰμι ἀπὸ τοῦ αἱματος πάντων, | |
| 27 | for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God. | οὐ γὰρ ὑπεστειλάμην τοῦ μὴ ἀναγγεῖλαι πᾶσαν τὴν βουλὴν τοῦ θεοῦ ὑμῖν. | |
| 28 | Take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God which he obtained with the blood of his own Son. | προσέχετε ἑαυτοῖς καὶ παντὶ τῷ ποιμνίῳ, ἐν ᾧ ὑμᾶς τὸ Πνεῦμα τὸ ἀγιον ἐθετο ἐπισκόπους, ποιμαίνειν τὴν ἐκκλησίαν τοῦ θεοῦ, ἣν περιεποιήσατο διὰ τοῦ αἱματος τοῦ ἰδίου. | |
| 29 | I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; | ἐγὼ οἶδα ὅτι εἰσελεύσονται μετὰ τὴν ἀφιξίν μου λύκοι βαρεῖς εἰς ὑμᾶς μὴ φειδόμενοι τοῦ ποιμνίου, | |
| 30 | and from among your own selves will arise men speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them. | καὶ ἐξ ὑμῶν αὐτῶν ἀναστήσονται ἀνδρες λαλοῦντες διεστραμμένα τοῦ ἀποσπᾶν τοὺς μαθητὰς ὀπίσω αὐτῶν. | |
| 31 | Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night or day to admonish everyone with tears. | διὸ γρηγορεῖτε, μνημονεύοντες ὅτι τριετίαν νύκτα καὶ ἡμέραν οὐκ ἐπαυσάμην μετὰ δακρύων νουθετῶν ἑνα ἑκαστον. | |
| 32 | And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified. | καὶ τὰ νῦν παρατίθεμαι ὑμᾶς τῷ θεῷ καὶ τῷ λόγῳ τῆς χάριτος αὐτοῦ τῷ δυναμένῳ οἰκοδομῆσαι καὶ δοῦναι τὴν κληρονομίαν ἐν τοῖς ἡγιασμένοις πᾶσιν. | |
| 33 | I coveted no one's silver or gold or apparel. | ἀργυρίου ἢ χρυσίου ἢ ἱματισμοῦ οὐδενὸς ἐπεθύμησα· | |
| 34 | You yourselves know that these hands ministered to my necessities, and to those who were with me. | αὐτοὶ γινώσκετε ὅτι ταῖς χρείαις μου καὶ τοῖς οὖσιν μετ' ἐμοῦ ὑπηρέτησαν αἱ χεῖρες αὗται. | |
| 35 | In all things I have shown you that by so toiling one must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' " | πάντα ὑπέδειξα ὑμῖν ὅτι οὑτως κοπιῶντας δεῖ ἀντιλαμβάνεσθαι τῶν ἀσθενούντων, μνημονεύειν τε τῶν λόγων τοῦ κυρίου Ἰησοῦ ὅτι αὐτὸς εἶπεν, Μακάριόν ἐστιν μᾶλλον διδόναι ἢ λαμβάνειν. | |
| 36 | And when he had spoken thus, he knelt down and prayed with them all. | Καὶ ταῦτα εἰπὼν θεὶς τὰ γόνατα αὐτοῦ σὺν πᾶσιν αὐτοῖς προσηύξατο. | |

| 3 | When we had come in sight of Cyprus, leaving it on the left we sailed to Syria, and landed at Tyre; for there the ship was to unload its cargo. | ἀναφάναντες δὲ τὴν Κύπρον καὶ καταλιπόντες αὐτὴν εὐώνυμον ἐπλέομεν εἰς Συρίαν, καὶ κατήλθομεν εἰς Τύρον, ἐκεῖσε γὰρ τὸ πλοῖον ἦν ἀποφορτιζόμενον τὸν γόμον. | |

| 10 | While we were staying for some days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. | ἐπιμενόντων δὲ ἡμέρας πλείους κατῆλθέν τις ἀπὸ τῆς Ἰουδαίας προφήτης ὀνόματι Ἄγαβος, | |
| 11 | And coming to us he took Paul's girdle and bound his own feet and hands, and said, "Thus says the Holy Spirit, 'So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man who owns this girdle and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.' " | καὶ ἐλθὼν πρὸς ἡμᾶς καὶ ἀρας τὴν ζώνην τοῦ Παύλου δήσας ἑαυτοῦ τοὺς πόδας καὶ τὰς χεῖρας εἶπεν, Τάδε λέγει τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἀγιον, Τὸν ἀνδρα οὗ ἐστιν ἡ ζώνη αὑτη οὑτ ως δήσουσιν ἐν Ἰερουσαλὴμ οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι καὶ παραδώσουςιν εἰς χεῖρας ἐθνῶν. | |
| 12 | When we heard this, we and the people there begged him not to go up to Jerusalem. | ὡς δὲ ἠκούσαμεν ταῦτα, παρεκαλοῦμεν ἡμεῖς τε καὶ οἱ ἐντόπιοι τοῦ μὴ ἀναβαίνειν αὐτὸν εἰς Ἰερουσαλήμ. | |
| 13 | Then Paul answered, "What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be imprisoned but even to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus." | τότε ἀπεκρίθη ὁ Παῦλος, Τί ποιεῖτε κλαίοντες καὶ συνθρύπτοντές μου τὴν καρδίαν; ἐγὼ γὰρ οὐ μόνον δεθῆναι ἀλλὰ καὶ ἀποθανεῖν εἰς Ἰερουσαλὴμ ἑτοίμως ἐχω ὑπὲρ τοῦ ὀνόματο ς τοῦ κυρίου Ἰησοῦ. | |
| 14 | And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased and said, "The will of the Lord be done." | μὴ πειθομένου δὲ αὐτοῦ ἡσυχάσαμεν εἰπόντες, Τοῦ κυρίου τὸ θέλημα γινέσθω. | |
| 15 | After these days we made ready and went up to Jerusalem. | Μετὰ δὲ τὰς ἡμέρας ταύτας ἐπισκευασάμενοι ἀνεβαίνομεν εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα· | |
| 16 | And some of the disciples from Caesarea went with us, bringing us to the house of Mnason of Cyprus, an early disciple, with whom we should lodge. | συνῆλθον δὲ καὶ τῶν μαθητῶν ἀπὸ Καισαρείας σὺν ἡμῖν, ἀγοντες παρ' ᾧ ξενισθῶμεν Μνάσωνί τινι Κυπρίῳ, ἀρχαίῳ μαθητῇ. | |

| 19 | After greeting them, he related one by one the things that God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry. | καὶ ἀσπασάμενος αὐτοὺς ἐξηγεῖτο καθ' ἓν ἑκαστον ὧν ἐποίησεν ὁ θεὸς ἐν τοῖς ἐθνεσιν διὰ τῆς διακονίας αὐτοῦ. | |
| 20 | And when they heard it, they glorified God. And they said to him, "You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed; they are all zealous for the law, | οἱ δὲ ἀκούσαντες ἐδόξαζον τὸν θεόν, εἶπόν τε αὐτῷ, Θεωρεῖς, ἀδελφέ, πόσαι μυριάδες εἰσὶν ἐν τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις τῶν πεπιστευκότων, καὶ πάντες ζηλωταὶ τοῦ νόμου ὑπάρχουσιν· | |
| 21 | and they have been told about you that you teach all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or observe the customs. | κατηχήθησαν δὲ περὶ σοῦ ὅτι ἀποστασίαν διδάσκεις ἀπὸ Μωϋσέως τοὺς κατὰ τὰ ἐθνη πάντας Ἰουδαίους, λέγων μὴ περιτέμνειν αὐτοὺς τὰ τέκνα μηδὲ τοῖς ἐθεσιν περιπατεῖν. | |
| 22 | What then is to be done? They will certainly hear that you have come. | τί οὖν ἐστιν; πάντως ἀκούσονται ὅτι ἐλήλυθας. | |
| 23 | Do therefore what we tell you. We have four men who are under a vow; | τοῦτο οὖν ποίησον ὁ σοι λέγομεν· εἰσὶν ἡμῖν ἀνδρες τέσσαρες εὐχὴν ἐχοντες ἐφ' ἑαυτῶν. | |
| 24 | take these men and purify yourself along with them and pay their expenses, so that they may shave their heads. Thus all will know that there is nothing in what they have been told about you but that you yourself live in observance of the law. | τούτους παραλαβὼν ἀγνίσθητι σὺν αὐτοῖς καὶ δαπάνησον ἐπ' αὐτοῖς ἵνα ξυρήσονται τὴν κεφαλήν, καὶ γνώσονται πάντες ὅτι ὧν κατήχηνται περὶ σοῦ οὐδέν ἐστιν, ἀλλὰ στοιχεῖς και ; αὐτὸς φυλάσσων τὸν νόμον. | |
| 25 | But as for the Gentiles who have believed, we have sent a letter with our judgment that they should abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols and from blood and from what is strangled and from unchastity." | περὶ δὲ τῶν πεπιστευκότων ἐθνῶν ἡμεῖς ἐπεστείλαμεν κρίναντες φυλάσσεσθαι αὐτοὺς τό τε εἰδωλόθυτον καὶ αἷμα καὶ πνικτὸν καὶ πορνείαν. | |

| 37 | As Paul was about to be brought into the barracks, he said to the tribune, "May I say something to you?" | 5 | as the high priest and the whole council of elders bear me witness. | 10 | And I said, 'What shall I do, Lord?' | 12 | "And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, well spoken of by all the Jews who lived there, | Ἀνανίας δέ τις, ἀνὴρ εὐλαβὴς κατὰ τὸν νόμον, μαρτυρούμενος ὑπὸ πάντων τῶν κατοικούντων Ἰουδαίων, | |
| 13 | came to me, and standing by me said to me, 'Brother Saul, receive your sight.' And in that very hour I received my sight and saw him. | ἐλθὼν πρός με καὶ ἐπιστὰς εἶπέν μοι, Σαοὺλ ἀδελφέ, ἀνάβλεψον· κἀγὼ αὐτῇ τῇ ὡρᾳ ἀνέβλεψα εἰς αὐτόν. | |
| 14 | And he said, 'The God of our fathers appointed you to know his will, to see the Just One and to hear a voice from his mouth; | ὁ δὲ εἶπεν, Ὁ θεὸς τῶν πατέρων ἡμῶν προεχειρίσατό σε γνῶναι τὸ θέλημα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἰδεῖν τὸν δίκαιον καὶ ἀκοῦσαι φωνὴν ἐκ τοῦ στόματος αὐτοῦ, | |

| 16 | And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on his name.' | καὶ νῦν τί μέλλεις; ἀναστὰς βάπτισαι καὶ ἀπόλουσαι τὰς ἀμαρτίας σου ἐπικαλεσάμενος τὸ ὀνομα αὐτοῦ. | |

| 19 | And I said, 'Lord, they themselves know that in every synagogue I imprisoned and beat those who believed in you. | κἀγὼ εἶπον, Κύριε, αὐτοὶ ἐπίστανται ὅτι ἐγὼ ἠμην φυλακίζων καὶ δέρων κατὰ τὰς συναγωγὰς τοὺς πιστεύοντας ἐπὶ σέ· | |
| 20 | And when the blood of Stephen your witness was shed, I also was standing by and approving, and keeping the garments of those who killed him.' | καὶ ὅτε ἐξεχύννετο τὸ αἷμα Στεφάνου τοῦ μάρτυρός σου, καὶ αὐτὸς ἠμην Ἔφεστὼς καὶ συνευδοκῶν καὶ φυλάσσων τὰ ἱμάτια τῶν ἀναιρούντων αὐτόν. | |
| 21 | And he said to me, 'Depart; for I will send you far away to the Gentiles.' " | καὶ εἶπεν πρός με, Πορεύου, ὅτι ἐγὼ εἰς ἐθνη μακρὰν ἐξαποστελῶ σε. | |
| 22 | Up to this word they listened to him; then they lifted up their voices and said, "Away with such a fellow from the earth! | 24 | the tribune commanded him to be brought into the barracks, and ordered him to be examined by scourging, to find out why they shouted thus against him. | ἐκέλευσεν ὁ χιλίαρχος εἰσάγεσθαι αὐτὸν εἰς τὴν παρεμβολήν, εἰπας μάστιξιν ἀνετάζεσθαι αὐτὸν ἵνα ἐπιγνῷ δῖ ἣν αἰτίαν οὑτως ἐπεφώνουν αὐτῷ. | |
| 25 | But when they had tied him up with the thongs, Paul said to the centurion who was standing by, "Is it lawful for you to scourge a man who is a Roman citizen, and uncondemned?" | ὡς δὲ προέτειναν αὐτὸν τοῖς ἱμᾶσιν εἶπεν πρὸς τὸν ἑστῶτα ἑκατόνταρχον ὁ Παῦλος, εἰ ἄνθρωπον Ῥωμαῖον καὶ ἀκατάκριτον ἐξεστιν ὑμῖν μαστίζειν; | |
| 26 | When the centurion heard that, he went to the tribune and said to him, "What are you about to do? For this man is a Roman citizen." | ἀκούσας δὲ ὁ ἑκατοντάρχης προσελθὼν τῷ χιλιάρχῳ ἀπήγγειλεν λέγων, Τί μέλλεις ποιεῖν; ὁ γὰρ ἄνθρωπος οὗτος Ῥωμαῖός ἐστιν. | |
| 27 | So the tribune came and said to him, "Tell me, are you a Roman citizen?" And he said, "Yes." | προσελθὼν δὲ ὁ χιλίαρχος εἶπεν αὐτῷ, Λέγε μοι, σὺ Ῥωμαῖος εἶ; ὁ δὲ ἐφη, Ναί. | |
| 28 | The tribune answered, "I bought this citizenship for a large sum." Paul said, "But I was born a citizen." | ἀπεκρίθη δὲ ὁ χιλίαρχος, Ἐγὼ πολλοῦ κεφαλαίου τὴν πολιτείαν ταύτην ἐκτησάμην. ὁ δὲ Παῦλος ἐφη, Ἐγὼ δὲ καὶ γεγέννημαι. | |
| 29 | So those who were about to examine him withdrew from him instantly; and the tribune also was afraid, for he realized that Paul was a Roman citizen and that he had bound him. | εὐθέως οὖν ἀπέστησαν ἀπ' αὐτοῦ οἱ μέλλοντες αὐτὸν ἀνετάζειν· καὶ ὁ χιλίαρχος δὲ ἐφοβήθη ἐπιγνοὺς ὅτι Ῥωμαῖός ἐστιν καὶ ὅτι αὐτὸν ἦν δεδεκώς. | |

| 2 | And the high priest Ananias commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth. | ὁ δὲ ἀρχιερεὺς Ἀνανίας ἐπέταξεν τοῖς παρεστῶσιν αὐτῷ τύπτειν αὐτοῦ τὸ στόμα. | |
| 3 | Then Paul said to him, "God shall strike you, you whitewashed wall! Are you sitting to judge me according to the law, and yet contrary to the law you order me to be struck?" | τότε ὁ Παῦλος πρὸς αὐτὸν εἶπεν, Τύπτειν σε μέλλει ὁ θεός, τοῖχε κεκονιαμένε· καὶ σὺ κάθῃ κρίνων με κατὰ τὸν νόμον, καὶ παρανομῶν κελεύεις με τύπτεσθαὶ; | |
| 4 | Those who stood by said, "Would you revile God's high priest?" | οἱ δὲ παρεστῶτες εἶπαν, Τὸν ἀρχιερέα τοῦ θεοῦ λοιδορεῖς; | |
| 5 | And Paul said, "I did not know, brethren, that he was the high priest; for it is written, 'You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.' | 7 | And when he had said this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees; and the assembly was divided. | τοῦτο δὲ αὐτοῦ εἰπόντος ἐγένετο στάσις τῶν Φαρισαίων καὶ Σαδδουκαίων, καὶ ἐσχίσθη τὸ πλῆθος. | |
| 8 | For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees acknowledge them all. | Σαδδουκαῖοι μὲν γὰρ λέγουσιν μὴ εἶναι ἀνάστασιν μήτε ἀγγελον μήτε Πνεῦμα, Φαρισαῖοι δὲ ὁμολογοῦσιν τὰ ἀμφότερα. | |
| 9 | Then a great clamor arose; and some of the scribes of the Pharisees' party stood up and contended, "We find nothing wrong in this man. What if a spirit or an angel spoke to him?" | ἐγένετο δὲ κραυγὴ μεγάλη, καὶ ἀναστάντες τινὲς τῶν γραμματέων τοῦ μέρους τῶν Φαρισαίων διεμάχοντο λέγοντες, Οὐδὲν κακὸν εὑρίσκομεν ἐν τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τούτῳ· εἰ δὲ Πνεῦμα ἐλά λησεν αὐτῷ ἢ ἀγγελος - | |

| 15 | You therefore, along with the council, give notice now to the tribune to bring him down to you, as though you were going to determine his case more exactly. | 19 | The tribune took him by the hand, and going aside asked him privately, "What is it that you have to tell me?" | ἐπιλαβόμενος δὲ τῆς χειρὸς αὐτοῦ ὁ χιλίαρχος καὶ ἀναχωρήσας κατ' ἰδίαν ἐπυνθάνετο, Τί ἐστιν ὃ ἐχεις ἀπαγγεῖλαί μοὶ; | |
| 20 | And he said, "The Jews have agreed to ask you to bring Paul down to the council tomorrow, as though they were going to inquire somewhat more closely about him. | εἶπεν δὲ ὅτι Οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι συνέθεντο τοῦ ἐρωτῆσαί σε ὁπως αὐριον τὸν Παῦλον καταγάγῃς εἰς τὸ συνέδριον ὡς μέλλον τι ἀκριβέστερον πυνθάνεσθαι περὶ αὐτοῦ. | |
| 21 | But do not yield to them; for more than forty of their men lie in ambush for him, having bound themselves by an oath neither to eat nor drink till they have killed him; and now they are ready, waiting for the promise from you." | σὺ οὖν μὴ πεισθῇς αὐτοῖς· ἐνεδρεύουσιν γὰρ αὐτὸν ἐξ αὐτῶν ἀνδρες πλείους τεσσεράκοντα, οἱτινες ἀνεθεμάτισαν ἑαυτοὺς μήτε φαγεῖν μήτε πιεῖν ἑως οὗ ἀνέλωσιν αὐτόν, και ; νῦν εἰσιν ἑτοιμοι προσδεχομενοι τὴν ἀπὸ σοῦ ἐπαγγελίαν. | |

| 27 | This man was seized by the Jews, and was about to be killed by them, when I came upon them with the soldiers and rescued him, having learned that he was a Roman citizen. | Τὸν ἀνδρα τοῦτον συλλημφθέντα ὑπὸ τῶν Ἰουδαίων καὶ μέλλοντα ἀναιρεῖσθαι ὑπ' αὐτῶν ἐπιστὰς σὺν τῷ στρατεύματι ἐξειλάμην, μαθὼν ὅτι Ῥωμαῖός ἐστιν· | |
| 28 | And desiring to know the charge on which they accused him, I brought him down to their council. | βουλόμενός τε ἐπιγνῶναι τὴν αἰτίαν δῖ ἣν ἐνεκάλουν αὐτῷ κατήγαγον εἰς τὸ συνέδριον αὐτῶν· | |
| 29 | I found that he was accused about questions of their law, but charged with nothing deserving death or imprisonment. | ὃν εὗρον ἐγκαλούμενον περὶ ζητημάτων τοῦ νόμου αὐτῶν, μηδὲν δὲ ἀξιον θανάτου ἢ δεσμῶν ἐχοντα ἐγκλημα. | |

| 24 1 | And after five days the high priest Ananias came down with some elders and a spokesman, one Tertullus. | 3 | in every way and everywhere we accept this with all gratitude. | πάντῃ τε καὶ πανταχοῦ ἀποδεχόμεθα, κράτιστε Φῆλιξ, μετὰ πάσης εὐχαριστίας. | |
| 4 | But, to detain you no further, I beg you in your kindness to hear us briefly. | ἵνα δὲ μὴ ἐπὶ πλεῖόν σε ἐγκόπτω, παρακαλῶ ἀκοῦσαί σε ἡμῶν συντόμως τῇ σῇ ἐπιεικείᾳ. | |
| 5 | For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, an agitator among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes. | εὑρόντες γὰρ τὸν ἀνδρα τοῦτον λοιμὸν καὶ κινοῦντα στάσεις πᾶσιν τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις τοῖς κατὰ τὴν οἰκουμένην πρωτοστάτην τε τῆς τῶν Ναζωραίων αἱρέσεως, | |
| 6 | He even tried to profane the temple, but we seized him. | ὃς καὶ τὸ ἱερὸν ἐπείρασεν βεβηλῶσαι, ὃν καὶ ἐκρατήσαμεν, καὶ κατὰ τὸν ἡμέτερον μόνον ἠθελλήσαμεν κρίναι. | |

| 8 | By examining him yourself you will be able to learn from him about everything of which we accuse him." | κελεύσας τοὺς κατηγόρους αὐτοῦ ἔρχεσθαι ἐπὶ σέ. παρ' οὗ δυνήσῃ αὐτὸς ἀνακρίνας περὶ πάντων τούτων ἐπιγνῶναι ὧν ἡμεῖς κατηγοροῦμεν αὐτοῦ. | |
| 9 | The Jews also joined in the charge, affirming that all this was so. | συνεπέθεντο δὲ καὶ οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι φάσκοντες ταῦτα οὑτως ἐχειν. | |

| 12 | and they did not find me disputing with anyone or stirring up a crowd, either in the temple or in the synagogues, or in the city. | καὶ οὐτε ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ εὗρόν με πρός τινα διαλεγόμενον ἢ ἐπίστασιν ποιοῦντα ὀχλου οὐτε ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς οὐτε κατὰ τὴν πόλιν, | |
| 13 | Neither can they prove to you what they now bring up against me. | οὐδὲ παραστῆσαι δύνανταί σοι περὶ ὧν νυνὶ κατηγοροῦσίν μου. | |
| 14 | But this I admit to you, that according to the Way, which they call a sect, I worship the God of our fathers, believing everything laid down by the law or written in the prophets, | ὁμολογῶ δὲ τοῦτό σοι, ὅτι κατὰ τὴν ὁδὸν ἣν λέγουσιν αἱρεσιν οὑτως λατρεύω τῷ πατρῴῳ θεῷ, πιστεύων πᾶσι τοῖς κατὰ τὸν νόμον καὶ τοῖς ἐν τοῖς προφήταις γεγραμμένοις, | |
| 15 | having a hope in God which these themselves accept, that there will be a resurrection of both the just and the unjust. | ἐλπίδα ἐχων εἰς τὸν θεόν, ἣν καὶ αὐτοὶ οὗτοι προσδέχονται, ἀνάστασιν μέλλειν ἐσεσθαι δικαίων τε καὶ ἀδίκων. | |
| 16 | So I always take pains to have a clear conscience toward God and toward men. | ἐν τούτῳ καὶ αὐτὸς ἀσκῶ ἀπρόσκοπον συνείδησιν ἐχειν πρὸς τὸν θεὸν καὶ τοὺς ἀνθρώπους διὰ παντός. | |

| 18 | As I was doing this, they found me purified in the temple, without any crowd or tumult. But some Jews from Asia - | ἐν αἷς εὗρόν με ἡγνισμένον ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ, οὐ μετὰ ὀχλου οὐδὲ μετὰ θορύβου· | |
| 19 | they ought to be here before you and to make an accusation, if they have anything against me. | τινὲς δὲ ἀπὸ τῆς Ἀσίας Ἰουδαῖοι, οὓς ἐδει ἐπὶ σοῦ παρεῖναι καὶ κατηγορεῖν εἰ τι ἐχοιεν πρὸς ἐμέ - | |
| 20 | Or else let these men themselves say what wrongdoing they found when I stood before the council, | ἢ αὐτοὶ οὗτοι εἰπάτωσαν τί εὗρον ἀδίκημα στάντος μου ἐπὶ τοῦ συνεδρίου | |
| 21 | except this one thing which I cried out while standing among them, 'With respect to the resurrection of the dead I am on trial before you this day.' " | ἢ περὶ μιᾶς ταύτης φωνῆς ἧς ἐκέκραξα ἐν αὐτοῖς ἑστὼς ὅτι Περὶ ἀναστάσεως νεκρῶν ἐγὼ κρίνομαι σήμερον ἐφ' ὑμῶν. | |

| 23 | Then he gave orders to the centurion that he should be kept in custody but should have some liberty, and that none of his friends should be prevented from attending to his needs. | διαταξάμενος τῷ ἑκατοντάρχῃ τηρεῖσθαι αὐτὸν ἐχειν τε ἀνεσιν καὶ μηδένα κωλύειν τῶν ἰδίων αὐτοῦ ὑπηρετεῖν αὐτῷ. | |

| 25 | And as he argued about justice and self-control and future judgment, Felix was alarmed and said, "Go away for the present; when I have an opportunity I will summon you." | διαλεγομένου δὲ αὐτοῦ περὶ δικαιοσύνης καὶ ἐγκρατείας καὶ τοῦ κρίματος τοῦ μέλλοντος ἐμφοβος γενόμενος ὁ Φῆλιξ ἀπεκρίθη, Τὸ νῦν ἐχον πορεύου, καιρὸν δὲ μεταλαβὼν μετακαλέσομ αί σε· | |
| 26 | At the same time he hoped that money would be given him by Paul. So he sent for him often and conversed with him. | ἀμα καὶ ἐλπίζων ὅτι χρήματα δοθήσεται αὐτῷ ὑπὸ τοῦ Παύλου· διὸ καὶ πυκνότερον αὐτὸν μεταπεμπόμενος ὡμίλει αὐτῷ. | |

| 3 | asking as a favour to have the man sent to Jerusalem, planning an ambush to kill him on the way. | αἰτούμενοι χάριν κατ' αὐτοῦ ὁπως μεταπέμψηται αὐτὸν εἰς Ἰερουσαλήμ, ἐνέδραν ποιοῦντες ἀνελεῖν αὐτὸν κατὰ τὴν ὁδόν. | |
| 4 | Festus replied that Paul was being kept at Caesarea, and that he himself intended to go there shortly. | ὁ μὲν οὖν Φῆστος ἀπεκρίθη τηρεῖσθαι τὸν Παῦλον εἰς Καισάρειαν, ἑαυτὸν δὲ μέλλειν ἐν τάχει ἐκπορεύεσθαι· | |
| 5 | "So," said he, "let the men of authority among you go down with me, and if there is anything wrong about the man, let them accuse him." | Οἱ οὖν ἐν ὑμῖν, φησίν, δυνατοὶ συγκαταβάντες εἰ τί ἐστιν ἐν τῷ ἀνδρὶ ἀτοπον κατηγορείτωσαν αὐτοῦ. | |

| 9 | But Festus, wishing to do the Jews a favour, said to Paul, "Do you wish to go up to Jerusalem, and there be tried on these charges before me?" | ὁ Φῆστος δὲ, θέλων τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις χάριν καταθέσθαι, ἀποκριθεὶς τῷ Παύλῳ εἶπεν, Θέλεις εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα ἀναβὰς ἐκεῖ περὶ τούτων κριθῆναι ἐπ' ἐμοῦ; | |
| 10 | But Paul said, "I am standing before Caesar's tribunal, where I ought to be tried; to the Jews I have done no wrong, as you know very well. | εἶπεν δὲ ὁ Παῦλος, ἑστὼς ἐπὶ τοῦ βήματος Καίσαρός εἰμι, οὗ με δεῖ κρίνεσθαι. Ἰουδαίους οὐδὲν ἠδίκησα, ὡς καὶ σὺ κάλλιον ἐπιγινώσκεις. | |
| 11 | If then I am a wrongdoer, and have committed anything for which I deserve to die, I do not seek to escape death; but if there is nothing in their charges against me, no one can give me up to them. | 12 | Then Festus, when he had conferred with his council, answered, "You have appealed to Caesar; to Caesar you shall go." | τότε ὁ Φῆστος συλλαλήσας μετὰ τοῦ συμβουλίου ἀπεκρίθη, Καίσαρα ἐπικέκλησαι, ἐπὶ Καίσαρα πορεύσῃ. | |

| 17 | When therefore they came together here, I made no delay, but on the next day took my seat on the tribunal and ordered the man to be brought in. | συνελθόντων οὖν αὐτῶν ἐνθάδε ἀναβολὴν μηδεμίαν ποιησάμενος τῇ ἑξῆς καθίσας ἐπὶ τοῦ βήματος ἐκέλευσα ἀχθῆναι τὸν ἀνδρα· | |
| 18 | When the accusers stood up, they brought no charge in his case of such evils as I supposed; | περὶ οὗ σταθέντες οἱ κατήγοροι οὐδεμίαν αἰτίαν ἐφερον ὧν ἐγὼ ὑπενόουν πονηρῶν, | |
| 19 | but they had certain points of dispute with him about their own superstition and about one Jesus, who was dead, but whom Paul asserted to be alive. | ζητήματα δέ τινα περὶ τῆς ἰδίας δεισιδαιμονίας εἶχον πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ περί τινος Ἰησοῦ τεθνηκότος, ὃν ἐφασκεν ὁ Παῦλος ζῆν. | |
| 20 | Being at a loss how to investigate these questions, I asked whether he wished to go to Jerusalem and be tried there regarding them. | ἀπορούμενος δὲ ἐγὼ τὴν περὶ τούτων ζήτησιν ἐλεγον εἰ βούλοιτο πορεύεσθαι εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα κἀκεῖ κρίνεσθαι περὶ τούτων. | |

| 24 | And Festus said, "King Agrippa and all who are present with us, you see this man about whom the whole Jewish people petitioned me, both at Jerusalem and here, shouting that he ought not to live any longer. | καί φησιν ὁ Φῆστος, Ἀγρίππα βασιλεῦ καὶ πάντες οἱ συμπαρόντες ἡμῖν ἀνδρες, θεωρεῖτε τοῦτον περὶ οὗ ἀπαν τὸ πλῆθος τῶν Ἰουδαίων ἐνέτυχόν μοι ἐν τε Ἱεροσολύμοις καὶ ἐνθά δε, βοῶντες μὴ δεῖν αὐτὸν ζῆν μηκέτι. | |
| 25 | But I found that he had done nothing deserving death; and as he himself appealed to the emperor, I decided to send him. | ἐγὼ δὲ κατελαβόμην μηδὲν ἀξιον αὐτὸν θανάτου πεπραχέναι, αὐτοῦ δὲ τούτου ἐπικαλεσαμένου τὸν Σεβαστὸν ἐκρινα πέμπειν. | |
| 26 | But I have nothing definite to write to my lord about him. Therefore I have brought him before you, and, especially before you, King Agrippa, that, after we have examined him, I may have something to write. | περὶ οὗ ἀσφαλές τι γράψαι τῷ κυρίῳ οὐκ ἐχω· διὸ προήγαγον αὐτὸν ἐφ' ὑμῶν καὶ μάλιστα ἐπὶ σοῦ, βασιλεῦ Ἀγρίππα, ὁπως τῆς ἀνακρίσεως γενομένης σχῶ τί γράψω· | |

| 5 | They have known for a long time, if they are willing to testify, that according to the strictest party of our religion I have lived as a Pharisee. | προγινώσκοντές με ἀνωθεν, ἐὰν θέλωσι μαρτυρεῖν, ὅτι κατὰ τὴν ἀκριβεστάτην αἱρεσιν τῆς ἡμετέρας θρησκείας ἐζησα Φαρισαῖος. | |

| 29 | And Paul said, "Whether short or long, I would to God that not only you but also all who hear me this day might become such as I am - except for these chains." | ὁ δὲ Παῦλος, Εὐξαίμην ἂν τῷ θεῷ καὶ ἐν ὀλίγῳ καὶ ἐν μεγάλῳ οὐ μόνον σὲ ἀλλὰ καὶ πάντας τοὺς ἀκούοντάς μου σήμερον γενέσθαι τοιούτους ὁποῖος καὶ ἐγώ εἰμι, παρεκτὸς τῶν δεσμῶν τούτων. | |

| 4 | And putting to sea from there we sailed under the lee of Cyprus, because the winds were against us. | κἀκεῖθεν ἀναχθέντες ὑπεπλεύσαμεν τὴν Κύπρον διὰ τὸ τοὺς ἀνέμους εἶναι ἐναντίους, | |
| 5 | And when we had sailed across the sea which is off Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra in Lycia. | τό τε πέλαγος τὸ κατὰ τὴν Κιλικίαν καὶ Παμφυλίαν διαπλεύσαντες κατήλθομεν εἰς Μύρα τῆς Λυκίας. | |
| 6 | There the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing for Italy, and put us on board. | κἀκεῖ εὑρὼν ὁ ἑκατοντάρχης πλοῖον Ἀλεξανδρῖνον πλέον εἰς τὴν Ἰταλίαν ἐνεβίβασεν ἡμᾶς εἰς αὐτό. | |
| 7 | We sailed slowly for a number of days, and arrived with difficulty off Cnidus, and as the wind did not allow us to go on, we sailed under the lee of Crete off Salmone. | ἐν ἱκαναῖς δὲ ἡμέραις βραδυπλοοῦντες καὶ μόλις γενόμενοι κατὰ τὴν Κνίδον, μὴ προσεῶντος ἡμᾶς τοῦ ἀνέμου, ὑπεπλεύσαμεν τὴν Κρήτην κατὰ Σαλμώνην, | |
| 8 | Coasting along it with difficulty, we came to a place called Fair Havens, near which was the city of Lasea. | μόλις τε παραλεγόμενοι αὐτὴν ἠλθομεν εἰς τόπον τινὰ καλούμενον Καλοὺς Λιμένας, ᾧ ἐγγὺς πόλις ἦν Λασαία. | |

| 11 | But the centurion paid more attention to the captain and to the owner of the ship than to what Paul said. | ὁ δὲ ἑκατοντάρχης τῷ κυβερνήτῃ καὶ τῷ ναυκλήρῳ μᾶλλον ἐπείθετο ἢ τοῖς ὑπὸ Παύλου λεγομένοις. | |
| 12 | And because the harbour was not suitable to winter in, the majority advised to put to sea from there, on the chance that somehow they could reach Phoenix, a harbour of Crete, looking northeast and southeast, and winter there. | ἀνευθέτου δὲ τοῦ λιμένος ὑπάρχοντος πρὸς παραχειμασίαν οἱ πλείονες ἐθεντο βουλὴν ἀναχθῆναι ἐκεῖθεν, εἰ πως δύναιντο καταντήσαντες εἰς Φοίνικα παραχειμάσαι, λιμένα τῆς Κρήτης βλέποντα κατὰ λίβα καὶ κατὰ χῶρον. | |

| 15 | and when the ship was caught and could not face the wind, we gave way to it and were driven. | συναρπασθέντος δὲ τοῦ πλοίου καὶ μὴ δυναμένου ἀντοφθαλμεῖν τῷ ἀνέμῳ ἐπιδόντες ἐφερόμεθα. | |
| 16 | And running under the lee of a small island called Cauda, we managed with difficulty to secure the boat; | νησίον δέ τι ὑποδραμόντες καλούμενον Καῦδα ἰσχύσαμεν μόλις περικρατεῖς γενέσθαι τῆς σκάφης, | |
| 17 | after hoisting it up, they took measures to undergird the ship; then, fearing that they should run on the Syrtis, they lowered the gear, and so were driven. | ἣν ἀραντες βοηθείαις ἐχρῶντο ὑποζωννύντες τὸ πλοῖον· φοβούμενοί τε μὴ εἰς τὴν Σύρτιν ἐκπέσωσιν, χαλάσαντες τὸ σκεῦος, οὑτως ἐφέροντο. | |
| 18 | As we were violently storm-tossed, they began next day to throw the cargo overboard; | σφοδρῶς δὲ χειμαζομένων ἡμῶν τῇ ἑξῆς ἐκβολὴν ἐποιοῦντο, | |
| 19 | and the third day they cast out with their own hands the tackle of the ship. | καὶ τῇ τρίτῃ αὐτόχειρες τὴν σκευὴν τοῦ πλοίου ἐρριψαν. | |
| 20 | And when neither sun nor stars appeared for many a day, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope of our being saved was at last abandoned. | μήτε δὲ ἡλίου μήτε ἀστρων ἐπιφαινόντων ἐπὶ πλείονας ἡμέρας, χειμῶνός τε οὐκ ὀλίγου ἐπικειμένου, λοιπὸν περιῃρεῖτο ἐλπὶς πᾶσα τοῦ σῴζεσθαι ἡμᾶς. | |
| 21 | As they had been long without food, Paul then came forward among them and said, "Men, you should have listened to me, and should not have set sail from Crete and incurred this injury and loss. | Πολλῆς τε ἀσιτίας ὑπαρχούσης τότε σταθεὶς ὁ Παῦλος ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν εἶπεν, Ἔδει μέν, ὦ ἀνδρες, πειθαρχήσαντάς μοι μὴ ἀνάγεσθαι ἀπὸ τῆς Κρήτης κερδῆσαί τε τὴν ὑβριν ταύτ ην καὶ τὴν ζημίαν. | |
| 22 | I now bid you take heart; for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. | καὶ τὰ νῦν παραινῶ ὑμᾶς εὐθυμεῖν, ἀποβολὴ γὰρ ψυχῆς οὐδεμία ἐσται ἐξ ὑμῶν πλὴν τοῦ πλοίου· | |
| 23 | For this very night there stood by me an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I worship, | παρέστη γάρ μοι ταύτῃ τῇ νυκτὶ τοῦ θεοῦ οὗ εἰμι ἐγώ, ᾧ καὶ λατρεύω, ἀγγελος | |
| 24 | and he said, 'Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before Caesar; and lo, God has granted you all those who sail with you.' | λέγων, Μὴ φοβοῦ, Παῦλε· Καίσαρί σε δεῖ παραστῆναι, καὶ ἰδοὺ κεχάρισταί σοι ὁ θεὸς πάντας τοὺς πλέοντας μετὰ σοῦ. | |
| 25 | So take heart, men, for I have faith in God that it will be exactly as I have been told. | διὸ εὐθυμεῖτε, ἀνδρες· πιστεύω γὰρ τῷ θεῷ ὅτι οὑτως ἐσται καθ' ὃν τρόπον λελάληταί μοι. | |
| 26 | But we shall have to run on some island." | εἰς νῆσον δέ τινα δεῖ ἡμᾶς ἐκπεσεῖν. | |
| 27 | When the fourteenth night had come, as we were drifting across the sea of Adria, about midnight the sailors suspected that they were nearing land. | Ὡς δὲ τεσσαρεσκαιδεκάτη νὺξ ἐγένετο διαφερομένων ἡμῶν ἐν τῷ Ἀδρίᾳ, κατὰ μέσον τῆς νυκτὸς ὑπενόουν οἱ ναῦται προσάγειν τινὰ αὐτοῖς χώραν. | |
| 28 | So they sounded and found twenty fathoms; a little farther on they sounded again and found fifteen fathoms. | καὶ βολίσαντες εὗρον ὀργυιὰς εἰκοσι, βραχὺ δὲ διαστήσαντες καὶ πάλιν βολίσαντες εὗρον ὀργυιὰς δεκαπέντε· | |
| 29 | And fearing that we might run on the rocks, they let out four anchors from the stern, and prayed for day to come. | φοβούμενοί τε μή που κατὰ τραχεῖς τόπους ἐκπέσωμεν, ἐκ πρύμνης ῥίψαντες ἀγκύρας τέσσαρας ηὐχοντο ἡμέραν γενέσθαι. | |
| 30 | And as the sailors were seeking to escape from the ship, and had lowered the boat into the sea, under pretence of laying out anchors from the bow, | τῶν δὲ ναυτῶν ζητούντων φυγεῖν ἐκ τοῦ πλοίου καὶ χαλασάντων τὴν σκάφην εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν προφάσει ὡς ἐκ πρῴρης ἀγκύρας μελλόντων ἐκτείνειν, | |
| 31 | Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, "Unless these men stay in the ship, you cannot be saved." | εἶπεν ὁ Παῦλος τῷ ἑκατοντάρχῃ καὶ τοῖς στρατιώταις, Ἐὰν μὴ οὗτοι μείνωσιν ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ, ὑμεῖς σωθῆναι οὐ δύνασθε. | |
| 32 | Then the soldiers cut away the ropes of the boat, and let it go. | τότε ἀπέκοψαν οἱ στρατιῶται τὰ σχοινία τῆς σκάφης καὶ εἰασαν αὐτὴν ἐκπεσεῖν. | |
| 33 | As day was about to dawn, Paul urged them all to take some food, saying, "Today is the fourteenth day that you have continued in suspense and without food, having taken nothing. | Ἄχρι δὲ οὗ ἡμέρα ἠμελλεν γίνεσθαι παρεκάλει ὁ Παῦλος ἀπαντας μεταλαβεῖν τροφῆς λέγων, Τεσσαρεσκαιδεκάτην σήμερον ἡμέραν προσδοκῶντες ἀσιτοι διατελεῖτε, μηθὲν προσλαβόμενοι· | |
| 34 | Therefore I urge you to take some food; it will give you strength, since not a hair is to perish from the head of any of you." | διὸ παρακαλῶ ὑμᾶς μεταλαβεῖν τροφῆς, τοῦτο γὰρ πρὸς τῆς ὑμετέρας σωτηρίας ὑπάρχει· οὐδενὸς γὰρ ὑμῶν θρὶξ ἀπὸ τῆς κεφαλῆς ἀπολεῖται. | |
| 35 | And when he had said this, he took bread, and giving thanks to God in the presence of all he broke it and began to eat. | εἰπας δὲ ταῦτα καὶ λαβὼν ἀρτον εὐχαρίστησεν τῷ θεῷ ἐνώπιον πάντων καὶ κλάσας ἠρξατο ἐσθίειν. | |
| 36 | Then they all were encouraged and ate some food themselves. | εὐθυμοι δὲ γενόμενοι πάντες καὶ αὐτοὶ προσελάβοντο τροφῆς. | |
| 37 | (We were in all two hundred and seventy-six persons in the ship.) | ἠμεθα δὲ αἱ πᾶσαι ψυχαὶ ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ διακόσιαι ἑβδομήκοντα ἑξ. | |
| 38 | And when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, throwing out the wheat into the sea. | κορεσθέντες δὲ τροφῆς ἐκούφιζον τὸ πλοῖον ἐκβαλλόμενοι τὸν σῖτον εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν. | |
| 39 | Now when it was day, they did not recognize the land, but they noticed a bay with a beach, on which they planned if possible to bring the ship ashore. | The Shipwreck Ac.27.39-44 | Ὅτε δὲ ἡμέρα ἐγένετο, τὴν γῆν οὐκ ἐπεγίνωσκον, κόλπον δέ τινα κατενόουν ἐχοντα αἰγιαλὸν εἰς ὃν ἐβουλεύοντο εἰ δύναιντο ἐξῶσαι τὸ πλοῖον. |
| 40 | So they cast off the anchors and left them in the sea, at the same time loosening the ropes that tied the rudders; then hoisting the foresail to the wind they made for the beach. | καὶ τὰς ἀγκύρας περιελόντες εἰων εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν, ἀμα ἀνέντες τὰς ζευκτηρίας τῶν πηδαλίων, καὶ ἐπάραντες τὸν ἀρτέμωνα τῇ πνεούσῃ κατεῖχον εἰς τὸν αἰγιαλόν. | |
| 41 | But striking a shoal they ran the vessel aground; the bow stuck and remained immovable, and the stern was broken up by the surf. | περιπεσόντες δὲ εἰς τόπον διθάλασσον ἐπέκειλαν τὴν ναῦν, καὶ ἡ μὲν πρῷρα ἐρείσασα ἐμεινεν ἀσάλευτος, ἡ δὲ πρύμνα ἐλύετο ὑπὸ τῆς βίας τῶν κυμάτων. | |
| 42 | The soldiers' plan was to kill the prisoners, lest any should swim away and escape; | τῶν δὲ στρατιωτῶν βουλὴ ἐγένετο ἵνα τοὺς δεσμώτας ἀποκτείνωσιν, μή τις ἐκκολυμβήσας διαφύγῃ· | |
| 43 | but the centurion, wishing to save Paul, kept them from carrying out their purpose. He ordered those who could swim to throw themselves overboard first and make for the land, | ὁ δὲ ἑκατοντάρχης βουλόμενος διασῶσαι τὸν Παῦλον ἐκώλυσεν αὐτοὺς τοῦ βουλήματος, ἐκέλευσέν τε τοὺς δυναμένους κολυμβᾶν ἀπορίψαντας πρώτους ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ἐξιέναι, | |
| 44 | and the rest on planks or on pieces of the ship. And so it was that all escaped to land. | καὶ τοὺς λοιποὺς οὓς μὲν ἐπὶ σανίσιν οὓς δὲ ἐπί τινων τῶν ἀπὸ τοῦ πλοίου· καὶ οὑτως ἐγένετο πάντας διασωθῆναι ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν. | |

| 2 | And the natives showed us unusual kindness, for they kindled a fire and welcomed us all, because it had begun to rain and was cold. | οἱ τε βάρβαροι παρεῖχον οὐ τὴν τυχοῦσαν φιλανθρωπίαν ἡμῖν, ἀψαντες γὰρ πυρὰν προσελάβοντο πάντας ἡμᾶς διὰ τὸν ὑετὸν τὸν Ἔφεστῶτα καὶ διὰ τὸ ψῦχος. | |
| 3 | Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and put them on the fire, when a viper came out because of the heat and fastened on his hand. | συστρέψαντος δὲ τοῦ Παύλου φρυγάνων τι πλῆθος καὶ ἐπιθέντος ἐπὶ τὴν πυράν, ἐχιδνα ἀπὸ τῆς θέρμης ἐξελθοῦσα καθῆψεν τῆς χειρὸς αὐτοῦ. | |
| 4 | When the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, "No doubt this man is a murderer. Though he has escaped from the sea, justice has not allowed him to live." | ὡς δὲ εἶδον οἱ βάρβαροι κρεμάμενον τὸ θηρίον ἐκ τῆς χειρὸς αὐτοῦ, πρὸς ἀλλήλους ἐλεγον, Πάντως φονεύς ἐστιν ὁ ἄνθρωπος οὗτος ὃν διασωθέντα ἐκ τῆς θαλάσσης ἡ δίκη ζῆν ο ὐκ εἰασεν. | |
| 5 | He, however, shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm. | ὁ μὲν οὖν ἀποτινάξας τὸ θηρίον εἰς τὸ πῦρ ἐπαθεν οὐδὲν κακόν· | |
| 6 | They waited, expecting him to swell up or suddenly fall down dead; but when they had waited a long time and saw no misfortune come to him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god. | οἱ δὲ προσεδόκων αὐτὸν μέλλειν πίμπρασθαι ἢ καταπίπτειν ἀφνω νεκρόν. ἐπὶ πολὺ δὲ αὐτῶν προσδοκώντων καὶ θεωρούντων μηδὲν ἀτοπον εἰς αὐτὸν γινόμενον, μεταβαλόμενοι ἐλεγον α ὐτὸν εἶναι θεόν. | |

| 8 | It happened that the father of Publius lay sick with fever and dysentery; and Paul visited him and prayed, and putting his hands on him healed him. | ἐγένετο δὲ τὸν πατέρα τοῦ Ποπλίου πυρετοῖς καὶ δυσεντερίῳ συνεχόμενον κατακεῖσθαι, πρὸς ὃν ὁ Παῦλος εἰσελθὼν καὶ προσευξάμενος ἐπιθεὶς τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῷ ἰάσατο αὐτόν. | |
| 9 | And when this had taken place, the rest of the people on the island who had diseases also came and were cured. | τούτου δὲ γενομένου καὶ οἱ λοιποὶ οἱ ἐν τῇ νήσῳ ἐχοντες ἀσθενείας προσήρχοντο καὶ ἐθεραπεύοντο, | |
| 10 | They presented many gifts to us; and when we sailed, they put on board whatever we needed. | οἳ καὶ πολλαῖς τιμαῖς ἐτίμησαν ἡμᾶς καὶ ἀναγομένοις ἐπέθεντο τὰ πρὸς τὰς χρείας. | |
| 11 | After three months we set sail in a ship which had wintered in the island, a ship of Alexandria, with the Twin Brothers as figurehead. | Paul Arrives at Rome Ac.28.11-16 | Μετὰ δὲ τρεῖς μῆνας ἀνήχθημεν ἐν πλοίῳ παρακεχειμακότι ἐν τῇ νήσῳ Ἀλεξανδρίνῳ, παρασήμῳ Διοσκούροις. |
| 12 | Putting in at Syracuse, we stayed there for three days. | καὶ καταχθέντες εἰς Συρακούσας ἐπεμείναμεν ἡμέρας τρεῖς, | |
| 13 | And from there we made a circuit and arrived at Rhegium; and after one day a south wind sprang up, and on the second day we came to Puteoli. | ὁθεν περιελόντες κατηντήσαμεν εἰς Ῥήγιον. καὶ μετὰ μίαν ἡμέραν ἐπιγενομένου νότου δευτεραῖοι ἠλθομεν εἰς Ποτιόλους, | |
| 14 | There we found brethren, and were invited to stay with them for seven days. And so we came to Rome. | οὗ εὑρόντες ἀδελφοὺς παρεκλήθημεν παρ' αὐτοῖς ἐπιμεῖναι ἡμέρας ἑπτά· καὶ οὑτως εἰς τὴν Ῥώμην ἠλθαμεν. | |
| 15 | And the brethren there, when they heard of us, came as far as the Forum of Appius and Three Taverns to meet us. On seeing them Paul thanked God and took courage. | κἀκεῖθεν οἱ ἀδελφοὶ ἀκούσαντες τὰ περὶ ἡμῶν ἦλθαν εἰς ἀπάντησιν ἡμῖν ἀχρι Ἀππίου Φόρου καὶ Τριῶν Ταβερνῶν, οὓς ἰδὼν ὁ Παῦλος εὐχαριστήσας τῷ θεῷ ἐλαβε θάρσος. | |

| 18 | When they had examined me, they wished to set me at liberty, because there was no reason for the death penalty in my case. | οἱτινες ἀνακρίναντές με ἐβούλοντο ἀπολῦσαι διὰ τὸ μηδεμίαν αἰτίαν θανάτου ὑπάρχειν ἐν ἐμοί· | |
| 19 | But when the Jews objected, I was compelled to appeal to Caesar - though I had no charge to bring against my nation. | ἀντιλεγόντων δὲ τῶν Ἰουδαίων ἠναγκάσθην ἐπικαλέσασθαι Καίσαρα, οὐχ ὡς τοῦ ἐθνους μου ἐχων τι κατηγορεῖν. | |
| 20 | For this reason therefore I have asked to see you and speak with you, since it is because of the hope of Israel that I am bound with this chain." | διὰ ταύτην οὖν τὴν αἰτίαν παρεκάλεσα ὑμᾶς ἰδεῖν καὶ προσλαλῆσαι, ἑνεκεν γὰρ τῆς ἐλπίδος τοῦ Ἰσραὴλ τὴν ἀλυσιν ταύτην περίκειμαι. | |
| 21 | And they said to him, "We have received no letters from Judea about you, and none of the brethren coming here has reported or spoken any evil about you. | οἱ δὲ πρὸς αὐτὸν εἶπαν, Ἡμεῖς οὐτε γράμματα περὶ σοῦ ἐδεξάμεθα ἀπὸ τῆς Ἰουδαίας, οὐτε παραγενόμενός τις τῶν ἀδελφῶν ἀπήγγειλεν ἢ ἐλάλησέν τι περὶ σοῦ πονηρόν. | |
| 22 | But we desire to hear from you what your views are; for with regard to this sect we know that everywhere it is spoken against." | ἀξιοῦμεν δὲ παρὰ σοῦ ἀκοῦσαι ἂ φρονεῖς, περὶ μὲν γὰρ τῆς αἱρέσεως ταύτης γνωστὸν ἡμῖν ἐστιν ὅτι πανταχοῦ ἀντιλέγεται. | |
| 23 | When they had appointed a day for him, they came to him at his lodging in great numbers. | 24 | And some were convinced by what he said, while others disbelieved. | καὶ οἱ μὲν ἐπείθοντο τοῖς λεγομένοις, οἱ δὲ ἠπίστουν· | |
| 25 | So, as they disagreed among themselves, they departed, after Paul had made one statement: "The Holy Spirit was right in saying to your fathers through Isaiah the prophet: | ἀσύμφωνοι δὲ ὄντες πρὸς ἀλλήλους ἀπελύοντο, εἰπόντος τοῦ Παύλου ῥῆμα ἓν ὅτι Καλῶς τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἀγιον ἐλάλησεν διὰ Ἠσαΐου τοῦ προφήτου πρὸς τοὺς πατέρας ὑμῶν | |
| 26 | 'Go to this people, and say, You shall indeed hear but never understand, and you shall indeed see but never perceive. | - You shall indeed hear but never understand Ac.28.26-28 | Is.6.9-10 | λέγων, Πορεύθητι πρὸς τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον καὶ εἰπόν, |
| 27 | For this people's heart has grown dull, and their ears are heavy of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest they should perceive with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn for me to heal them.' | ἐπαχύνθη γὰρ ἡ καρδία τοῦ λαοῦ τούτου, καὶ τοῖς ὠσὶν βαρέως ἤκουσαν, καὶ τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτῶν ἐκάμμυσαν· μήποτε ἴδωσιν τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς καὶ τοῖς ὠσὶν ἀκούσωσιν καὶ τῇ καρδίᾳ συνῶσιν καὶ ἐπιστρέψωσιν, καὶ ἰάσομαι αὐτούς. | |
| 28 | Let it be known to you then that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will listen." | γνωστὸν οὖν ἐστω ὑμῖν ὅτι τοῖς ἐθνεσιν ἀπεστάλη τοῦτο τὸ σωτήριον τοῦ θεοῦ· αὐτοὶ καὶ ἀκούσονται. | |
| 29 | καὶ ταῦτα αὐτοῦ εἰπόντος ἀπῆλθον οἰ Ἰουδαῖοι, πολλὴν ἔχοντες ἐν ἑαυτοῖς συζήτησιν. | ||
| 30 | And he lived there two whole years at his own expense, and welcomed all who came to him, | Ἐνέμεινεν δὲ διετίαν ὁλην ἐν ἰδίῳ μισθώματι, καὶ ἀπεδέχετο πάντας τοὺς εἰσπορευομένους πρὸς αὐτόν, | |
| 31 | preaching the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ quite openly and unhindered. | κηρύσσων τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ διδάσκων τὰ περὶ τοῦ κυρίου Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ μετὰ πάσης παρρησίας ἀκωλύτως. | |
