4 New English Bible (New Testament) Passage New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26)

23As soon as they were discharged they went back to their friends and told them everything that the chief priests and elders had said. The Believers Pray for Boldness Ac.4.23-31 (Jerusalem)Ἀπολυθέντες δὲ ἦλθον πρὸς τοὺς ἰδίους καὶ ἀπήγγειλαν ὁσα πρὸς αὐτοὺς οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι εἶπαν.
24When they heard it, they raised their voices as one man and called upon God:

'Sovereign Lord, maker of heaven and earth and sea and of everything in them,

- Sovereign Lord, who didst make the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them, Ac.4.24 | Ex.20.11 | Ps.146.6 | Is.37.16οἱ δὲ ἀκούσαντες ὁμοθυμαδὸν ἦραν φωνὴν πρὸς τὸν θεὸν καὶ εἶπαν, Δέσποτα, σὺ ὁ ποιήσας τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ τὴν θάλασσαν καὶ πάντα τὰ ἐν αὐτοῖς,
25who by the Holy Spirit, Some witnesses omit: by the Holy Spirit. through the mouth of David thy servant, didst say,
"Why did the Gentiles rage and the peoples lay their plots in vain?
- Why did the Gentiles rage Ac.4.25-26 | Ps.2.1-2ὁ τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν διὰ πνεύματος ἀγίου στόματος Δαυὶδ παιδός σου εἰπών,

καὶ λαοὶ ἐμελέτησαν κενά;

26The kings of the earth took their stand and the rulers made common cause
Against the Lord and against his Messiah."
27They did indeed make common cause in this very city against thy holy servant Jesus whom thou didst anoint as Messiah. Herod and Pontius Pilate conspired with the Gentiles and peoples of Israel
28to do all the things which, under thy hand and by thy decree, were foreordained.
29And now, O Lord, mark their threats, and enable thy servants to speak thy word with all boldness.
30Stretch out thy hand to heal and cause signs and wonders to be done through the name of thy holy servant Jesus.'
31When they had ended their prayer, the building where they were assembled rocked, and all were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness.
