2 katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE Passage New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26)

14But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them, "Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words.
15For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day; οὐ γὰρ ὡς ὑμεῖς ὑπολαμβάνετε οὗτοι μεθύουσιν, ἐστιν γὰρ ὡρα τρίτη τῆς ἡμέρας,
16but this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17'And in the last days it shall be, God declares,
that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh,
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
and your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams;
- I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh Ac.2.17-21 | Jl.2.28-32Καὶ ἔσται ἐν ταῖς ἐσχάταις ἡμέραις, λέγει ὁ θεός,
18yea, and on my menservants and my maidservants
in those days I will pour out my Spirit;
and they shall prophesy.

19And I will show wonders in the heaven above
and signs on the earth beneath,
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke;
20the sun shall be turned into darkness
and the moon into blood,
before the day of the Lord comes,
the great and manifest day.
21And it shall be that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.'
22"Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs which God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know -  Ac.2.22-39Ἄνδρες Ἰσραηλῖται, ἀκούσατε τοὺς λόγους τούτους· Ἰησοῦν τὸν Ναζωραῖον, ἀνδρα ἀποδεδειγμένον ἀπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ εἰς ὑμᾶς δυνάμεσι καὶ τέρασι καὶ σημείοις οἷς ἐποίησεν δῖ αὐτου ' ὁ θεὸς ἐν μέσῳ ὑμῶν, καθὼς αὐτοὶ οἴδατε,
23this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.
24But God raised him up, having loosed the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.
25For David says concerning him,

'I saw the Lord always before me,
for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken;

- I saw the Lord always before me Ac.2.25-28 | Ps.16.8-11Δαυὶδ γὰρ λέγει εἰς αὐτόν,

26therefore my heart was glad,
and my tongue rejoiced;
moreover my flesh will dwell in hope.
27For you will not abandon my soul to Hades,
nor let your Holy One see corruption.
28You have made known to me the ways of life;
you will make me full of gladness with your presence.'

30Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants upon his throne,
31he foresaw and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.

32This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses.
33Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this which you see and hear.
34For David did not ascend into the heavens;
but he himself says,

'The Lord said to my Lord,
Sit at my right hand,

- till I make thy enemies a stool for thy feet Ac.2.34-35 | Ps.110.1οὐ γὰρ Δαυὶδ ἀνέβη εἰς τοὺς οὐρανούς, λέγει δὲ αὐτός,

35till I make your enemies a stool for your feet.'
36Let all the house of Israel therefore know assuredly that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified."
37Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brethren, what shall we do?"  Ἀκούσαντες δὲ κατενύγησαν τὴν καρδίαν, εἶπόν τε πρὸς τὸν Πέτρον καὶ τοὺς λοιποὺς ἀποστόλους, Τί ποιήσωμεν, ἀνδρες ἀδελφοί;
38And Peter said to them, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39For the promise is to you and to your children and to all that are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to him."
40And he testified with many other words and exhorted them, saying, "Save yourselves from this crooked generation."
41So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
42And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
43And fear came upon every soul; and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.
44And all who believed were together and had all things in common;
45and they sold their possessions and goods and distributed them to all, as any had need.
46And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they partook of food with glad and generous hearts, καθ' ἡμέραν τε προσκαρτεροῦντες ὁμοθυμαδὸν ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ, κλῶντές τε κατ' οἶκον ἀρτον, μετελάμβανον τροφῆς ἐν ἀγαλλιάσει καὶ ἀφελότητι καρδίας,
47praising God and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
3 1Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.The lame man healed at the gate of the Temple Acts 3:1-10 (Beautiful Gate, The Temple, Jerusalem)Πέτρος δὲ καὶ Ἰωάννης ἀνέβαινον εἰς τὸ ἱερὸν ἐπὶ τὴν ὡραν τῆς προσευχῆς τὴν ἐνάτην.
2And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at that gate of the temple which is called Beautiful to ask alms of those who entered the temple.
3Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked for alms.
4And Peter directed his gaze at him, with John, and said, "Look at us."
5And he fixed his attention upon them, expecting to receive something from them.
6But Peter said, "I have no silver and gold, but I give you what I have; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk."
7And he took him by the right hand and raised him up; and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong.
8And leaping up he stood and walked and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.
9And all the people saw him walking and praising God, καὶ εἶδεν πᾶς ὁ λαὸς αὐτὸν περιπατοῦντα καὶ αἰνοῦντα τὸν θεόν,
10and recognized him as the one who sat for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

Notes: This page displays passages from the katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE.
The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.

The katapi New Study Bible reference section displays links to parallel passages, and to direct quotations by New Testament authors to Old Testament passages. Quotations of OT passages by NT authors can in most cases be viewed within their context of the OT passage as a whole, with the quoted text displayed, against a subdued background.
