15	"If you love me, you will keep my commandments.	The Promise of the Spirit Jn.14.15-31 (Jerusalem)	Ἐὰν ἀγαπᾶτέ με, τὰς ἐντολὰς τὰς ἐμὰς τηρήσετε·
16	And I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, to be with you for ever,		κἀγὼ ἐρωτήσω τὸν πατέρα καὶ ἀλλον παράκλητον δώσει ὑμῖν ἵνα μεθ' ὑμῶν εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα ᾖ,
17	even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him; you know him, for he dwells with you, and will be in you.		τὸ Πνεῦμα τῆς ἀληθείας, ὃ ὁ κόσμος οὐ δύναται λαβεῖν, ὅτι οὐ θεωρεῖ αὐτὸ οὐδὲ γινώσκει· ὑμεῖς γινώσκετε αὐτό, ὅτι παρ' ὑμῖν μένει καὶ ἐν ὑμῖν ἐσται.
18	"I will not leave you desolate; I will come to you.		Οὐκ ἀφήσω ὑμᾶς ὀρφανούς, ἐρχομαι πρὸς ὑμᾶς.
19	Yet a little while, and the world will see me no more, but you will see me; because I live, you will live also.		ἐτι μικρὸν καὶ ὁ κόσμος με οὐκέτι θεωρεῖ, ὑμεῖς δὲ θεωρεῖτέ με, ὅτι ἐγὼ ζῶ καὶ ὑμεῖς ζήσετε.
20	In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.		ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ γνώσεσθε ὑμεῖς ὅτι ἐγὼ ἐν τῷ πατρί μου καὶ ὑμεῖς ἐν ἐμοὶ κἀγὼ ἐν ὑμῖν.
21	He who has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me; and he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him."		ὁ ἐχων τὰς ἐντολάς μου καὶ τηρῶν αὐτὰς ἐκεῖνός ἐστιν ὁ ἀγαπῶν με· ὁ δὲ ἀγαπῶν με ἀγαπηθήσεται ὑπὸ τοῦ πατρός μου, κἀγὼ ἀγαπήσω αὐτὸν καὶ ἐμφανίσω αὐτῷ ἐμαυτόν.
22	Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, "Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?"		Λέγει αὐτῷ Ἰούδας, οὐχ ὁ Ἰσκαριώτης, Κύριε, καὶ τί γέγονεν ὅτι ἡμῖν μέλλεις ἐμφανίζειν σεαυτὸν καὶ οὐχὶ τῷ κόσμῳ;
23	Jesus answered him, "If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.		ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ, Ἐάν τις ἀγαπᾷ με τὸν λόγον μου τηρήσει, καὶ ὁ πατήρ μου ἀγαπήσει αὐτόν, καὶ πρὸς αὐτὸν ἐλευσόμεθα καὶ μονὴν παρ' αὐτῷ ποιησόμεθα.
24	He who does not love me does not keep my words; and the word which you hear is not mine but the Father's who sent me.		ὁ μὴ ἀγαπῶν με τοὺς λόγους μου οὐ τηρεῖ· καὶ ὁ λόγος ὃν ἀκούετε οὐκ ἐστιν ἐμὸς ἀλλὰ τοῦ πέμψαντός με πατρός.
25	"These things I have spoken to you, while I am still with you.		Ταῦτα λελάληκα ὑμῖν παρ' ὑμῖν μένων·
26	But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.		ὁ δὲ παράκλητος, τὸ Πνεῦμα τὸ ἀγιον ὃ πέμψει ὁ πατὴρ ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί μου, ἐκεῖνος ὑμᾶς διδάξει πάντα καὶ ὑπομνήσει ὑμᾶς πάντα ἂ εἶπον ὑμῖν ἐγώ.
27	Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.		Εἰρήνην ἀφίημι ὑμῖν, εἰρήνην τὴν ἐμὴν δίδωμι ὑμῖν· οὐ καθὼς ὁ κόσμος δίδωσιν ἐγὼ δίδωμι ὑμῖν. μὴ ταρασσέσθω ὑμῶν ἡ καρδία μηδὲ δειλιάτω.
28	You heard me say to you, 'I go away, and I will come to you.' If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I go to the Father; for the Father is greater than I.		ἠκούσατε ὅτι ἐγὼ εἶπον ὑμῖν, Ὑπάγω καὶ ἐρχομαι πρὸς ὑμᾶς. εἰ ἠγαπᾶτέ με ἐχάρητε ἀν, ὅτι πορεύομαι πρὸς τὸν πατέρα, ὅτι ὁ πατὴρ μείζων μού ἐστιν.
29	And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place, you may believe.		καὶ νῦν εἰρηκα ὑμῖν πρὶν γενέσθαι, ἵνα ὁταν γένηται πιστεύσητε.
30	I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over me;		οὐκέτι πολλὰ λαλήσω μεθ' ὑμῶν, ἐρχεται γὰρ ὁ τοῦ κόσμου ἀρχων· καὶ ἐν ἐμοὶ οὐκ ἐχει οὐδέν,
31	but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go hence.		ἀλλ' ἵνα γνῷ ὁ κόσμος ὅτι ἀγαπῶ τὸν πατέρα, καὶ καθὼς ἐνετείλατο μοι ὁ πατήρ, οὑτως ποιῶ. Ἐγείρεσθε, ἀγωμεν ἐντεῦθεν.

The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.

Quotations of OT passages by NT authors can in most cases be viewed within their context of the OT passage as a whole, with the quoted text displayed, against a subdued background.
