9 katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE Passage New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26)

9 1As he passed by, he saw a man blind from his birth.The Healing of a Man Born Blind Jn.9.1-12 (Jerusalem)Καὶ παράγων εἶδεν ἄνθρωπον τυφλὸν ἐκ γενετῆς.
2And his disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" καὶ ἠρώτησαν αὐτὸν οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ λέγοντες, Ῥαββί, τίς ἡμαρτεν, οὗτος ἢ οἱ γονεῖς αὐτοῦ, ἵνα τυφλὸς γεννηθῇ;
3Jesus answered, "It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be made manifest in him.
4We must work the works of him who sent me, while it is day; night comes, when no one can work.
5As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world."
6As he said this, he spat on the ground and made clay of the spittle and anointed the man's eyes with the clay,
7saying to him, "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam"(which means Sent). So he went and washed and came back seeing.
8The neighbours and those who had seen him before as a beggar, said, "Is not this the man who used to sit and beg?"  Οἱ οὖν γείτονες καὶ οἱ θεωροῦντες αὐτὸν τὸ πρότερον ὅτι προσαίτης ἦν ἐλεγον, Οὐχ οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ καθήμενος καὶ προσαιτῶν;
9Some said, "It is he"; others said, "No, but he is like him." He said, "I am the man."
10They said to him, "Then how were your eyes opened?" ἐλεγον οὖν αὐτῷ, Πῶς οὖν ἠνεῴχθησάν σου οἱ ὀφθαλμοί;
11He answered, "The man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, 'Go to Siloam and wash'; so I went and washed and received my sight."
12They said to him, "Where is he?" He said, "I do not know."

Notes: This page displays passages from the katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE.
The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.

The katapi New Study Bible reference section displays links to parallel passages, and to direct quotations by New Testament authors to Old Testament passages. Quotations of OT passages by NT authors can in most cases be viewed within their context of the OT passage as a whole, with the quoted text displayed, against a subdued background.
