8 katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE Passage New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26)

21Again he said to them, "I go away, and you will seek me and die in your sin; where I am going, you cannot come." Where I am Going You Cannot Come Jn.8.21-30 (Jerusalem)Εἶπεν οὖν πάλιν αὐτοῖς, Ἐγὼ ὑπάγω καὶ ζητήσετέ με, καὶ ἐν τῇ ἀμαρτίᾳ ὑμῶν ἀποθανεῖσθε· ὁπου ἐγὼ ὑπάγω ὑμεῖς οὐ δύνασθε ἐλθεῖν.
22Then said the Jews, "Will he kill himself, since he says, 'Where I am going, you cannot come?'" ἐλεγον οὖν οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι, Μήτι ἀποκτενεῖ ἑαυτόν, ὅτι λέγει, Ὅπου ἐγὼ ὑπάγω ὑμεῖς οὐ δύνασθε ἐλθεῖν;
23He said to them, "You are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world.
24I told you that you would die in your sins, for you will die in your sins unless you believe that I am he."
25They said to him, "Who are you?" Jesus said to them, "Even what I have told you from the beginning.  ἐλεγον οὖν αὐτῷ, Σὺ τίς εἶ; εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς, Τὴν ἀρχὴν ὁ τι καὶ λαλῶ ὑμῖν;
26I have much to say about you and much to judge; but he who sent me is true, and I declare to the world what I have heard from him."
27They did not understand that he spoke to them of the Father.
28So Jesus said, "When you have lifted up the Son of man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own authority but speak thus as the Father taught me.
29And he who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what is pleasing to him."
30As he spoke thus, many believed in him.

Notes: This page displays passages from the katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE.
The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.

The katapi New Study Bible reference section displays links to parallel passages, and to direct quotations by New Testament authors to Old Testament passages. Quotations of OT passages by NT authors can in most cases be viewed within their context of the OT passage as a whole, with the quoted text displayed, against a subdued background.
