New English Bible (New Testament) Passage New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26)

The temple police came back to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked, 'Why have you not brought him?'The Unbelief of Those in Authority Jn.7.45-52 (Jerusalem)Ἦλθον οὖν οἱ ὑπηρέται πρὸς τοὺς ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ Φαρισαίους, καὶ εἶπον αὐτοῖς ἐκεῖνοι, Διὰ τί οὐκ ἠγάγετε αὐτόν;
'No man', they answered, 'ever spoke as this man speaks.' ἀπεκρίθησαν οἱ ὑπηρέται, Οὐδέποτε ἐλάλησεν οὑτως ἄνθρωπος.
The Pharisees retorted, 'Have you too been misled? ἀπεκρίθησαν οὖν αὐτοῖς οἱ Φαρισαῖοι, Μὴ καὶ ὑμεῖς πεπλάνησθὲ;
Is there a single one of our rulers who has believed in him, or of the Pharisees? μή τις ἐκ τῶν ἀρχόντων ἐπίστευσεν εἰς αὐτὸν ἢ ἐκ τῶν Φαρισαίων;
As for this rabble, which cares nothing for the Law, a curse is on them.' ἀλλὰ ὁ ὀχλος οὗτος ὁ μὴ γινώσκων τὸν νόμον ἐπάρατοί εἰσιν.
Then one of their number, Nicodemus (the man who had once visited Jesus), intervened. λέγει Νικόδημος πρὸς αὐτούς, ὁ ἐλθὼν πρὸς αὐτὸν τὸ πρότερον, εἷς ὢν ἐξ αὐτῶν,
'Does our law', he asked them, 'permit us to pass judgement on a man unless we have first given him a hearing and learned the facts?' Μὴ ὁ νόμος ἡμῶν κρίνει τὸν ἄνθρωπον ἐὰν μὴ ἀκούσῃ πρῶτον παρ' αὐτοῦ καὶ γνῷ τί ποιεῖ;
'Are you a Galilean too?' they retorted. 'Study the scriptures and you will find that prophets do not come from Galilee.' ἀπεκρίθησαν καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ, Μὴ καὶ σὺ ἐκ τῆς Γαλιλαίας εἶ; ἐραύνησον καὶ ἰδε ὅτι προφήτης ἐκ τῆς Γαλιλαίας οὐκ ἐγείρεται.
