7 New English Bible (New Testament) Passage New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26)

7 1AFTERWARDS JESUS went about in Galilee. He wished to avoid Judaea because the Jews were looking for a chance to kill him.The Unbelief of Jesus' Brothers Jn.7.1-9 (Jerusalem)Καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα περιεπάτει ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐν τῇ Γαλιλαίᾳ· οὐ γὰρ ἠθελεν ἐν τῇ Ἰουδαίᾳ περιπατεῖν, ὅτι ἐζήτουν αὐτὸν οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι ἀποκτεῖναι.
2As the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles was close at hand, ἦν δὲ ἐγγὺς ἡ ἑορτὴ τῶν Ἰουδαίων ἡ σκηνοπηγία.
3his brothers said to him, 'You should leave this district and go into Judaea, so that your disciples there may see the great things you are doing.
4Surely no one can hope to be in the public eye if he works in seclusion. If you really are doing such things as these, show yourself to the world.'
5For even his brothers had no faith in him.
6Jesus said to them, 'The right time for me has not yet come, but any time is right for you.
7The world cannot hate you, but it hates me for exposing the wickedness of its ways.
8Go to the festival yourselves. I am not Some witnesses read: not yet. going up to this festival because the right time for me has not yet come.'
9With this answer he stayed behind in Galilee.
