36 | John looked towards him and said, 'There is the Lamb of God.' | | καὶ ἐμβλέψας τῷ Ἰησοῦ περιπατοῦντι λέγει, Ἴδε ὁ ἀμνὸς τοῦ θεοῦ. |

37 | The two disciples heard him say this, and followed Jesus. | | καὶ ἠκουσαν οἱ δύο μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος καὶ ἠκολούθησαν τῷ Ἰησοῦ. |

38 | When he turned and saw them following him, he asked, 'What are you looking for?' They said, 'Rabbi' (which means a teacher), 'where are you staying?' 'Come and see', he replied. | | στραφεὶς δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς καὶ θεασάμενος αὐτοὺς ἀκολουθοῦντας λέγει αὐτοῖς, Τί ζητεῖτὲ οἱ δὲ εἶπαν αὐτῷ, Ῥαββί (ὃ λέγεται μεθερμηνευόμενον Διδάσκαλε), ποῦ μένεις; |

39 | So they went and saw where he was staying, and spent the rest of the day with him. It was then about four in the afternoon.

41 | The first thing he did was to find Some witnesses read: In the morning he found ... his brother Simon. He said to him, 'We have found the Messiah' (which is the Hebrew for 'Christ'). | | εὑρίσκει οὗτος πρῶτον τὸν ἀδελφὸν τὸν ἰδιον Σίμωνα καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ, Εὑρήκαμεν τὸν Μεσσίαν (ὅ ἐστιν μεθερμηνευόμενον Χριστός)· |

42 | He brought Simon to Jesus, who looked at him, and said, 'You are Simon, son of John. You shall be called Cephas' (that is, Peter, the Rock).
