| 2 | And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to put him to death; for they feared the people. | | καὶ ἐζήτουν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς τὸ πῶς ἀνέλωσιν αὐτόν, ἐφοβοῦντο γὰρ τὸν λαόν. |

| 3 | Then Satan entered into Judas called Iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve; | | Εἰσῆλθεν δὲ Σατανᾶς εἰς Ἰούδαν τὸν καλούμενον Ἰσκαριώτην, ὀντα ἐκ τοῦ ἀριθμοῦ τῶν δώδεκα· |

| 4 | he went away and conferred with the chief priests and officers how he might betray him to them. | | καὶ ἀπελθὼν συνελάλησεν τοῖς ἀρχιερεῦσιν καὶ στρατηγοῖς τὸ πῶς αὐτοῖς παραδῷ αὐτόν. |

| 5 | And they were glad, and engaged to give him money. | | καὶ ἐχάρησαν καὶ συνέθεντο αὐτῷ ἀργύριον δοῦναι. |

| 6 | So he agreed, and sought an opportunity to betray him to them in the absence of the multitude. | | καὶ ἐξωμολόγησεν, καὶ ἐζήτει εὐκαιρίαν τοῦ παραδοῦναι αὐτὸν ἀτερ ὀχλου αὐτοῖς. |
