6 | He told them this parable: 'A man had a fig-tree growing in his vineyard; and he came looking for fruit on it, but found none. | The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree Lk.13.6-9 (Judaea) | Ἔλεγεν δὲ ταύτην τὴν παραβολήν· Συκῆν εἶχέν τις πεφυτευμένην ἐν τῷ ἀμπελῶνι αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἦλθεν ζητῶν καρπὸν ἐν αὐτῇ καὶ οὐχ εὗρεν. |

7 | So he said to the vine-dresser, "Look here! For the last three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig-tree without finding any. Cut it down. Why should it go on using up the soil?" | | εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς τὸν ἀμπελουργόν, Ἰδοὺ τρία ἐτη ἀφ' οὗ ἐρχομαι ζητῶν καρπὸν ἐν τῇ συκῇ ταύτῃ καὶ οὐχ εὑρίσκω. ἐκκοψον οὖν αὐτήν· ἵνατί καὶ τὴν γῆν καταργεῖ; |

8 | But he replied, "Leave it, sir, this one year while I dig round it and manure it. | | ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς λέγει αὐτῷ, Κύριε, ἀφες αὐτὴν καὶ τοῦτο τὸ ἐτος, ἑως ὁτου σκάψω περὶ αὐτὴν καὶ βάλω κόπρια· |

9 | And if it bears next season, well and good, if not, you shall have it down." '
| | κἂν μὲν ποιήσῃ καρπὸν εἰς τὸ μέλλον - εἰ δὲ μή γε, ἐκκόψεις αὐτήν. |
