| 22 | 'Therefore', he said to his disciples, 'I bid you put away anxious thoughts about food to keep you alive and clothes to cover your body. | Care and Anxiety Lk.12.22-34 (Judaea) | Mt.6.25-34 | Εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς τοὺς μαθητάς αὐτοῦ, Διὰ τοῦτο λέγω ὑμῖν, μὴ μεριμνᾶτε τῇ ψυχῇ τί φάγητε, μηδὲ τῷ σώματι τί ἐνδύσησθε. |

| 23 | Life is more than food, the body more than clothes. | | ἡ γὰρ ψυχὴ πλεῖόν ἐστιν τῆς τροφῆς καὶ τὸ σῶμα τοῦ ἐνδύματος. |
|
| 24 | Think of the ravens: they neither sow nor reap; they have no storehouse or barn; yet God feeds them. You are worth far more than the birds! | | κατανοήσατε τοὺς κόρακας ὅτι οὐ σπείρουσιν οὐδὲ θερίζουσιν, οἷς οὐκ ἐστιν ταμεῖον οὐδὲ ἀποθήκη, καὶ ὁ θεὸς τρέφει αὐτούς· πόσῳ μᾶλλον ὑμεῖς διαφέρετε τῶν πετεινῶν. |

| 25 | Is there a man among you who by anxious thought can add a foot to his height? Or: a day to his life. | | τίς δὲ ἐξ ὑμῶν μεριμνῶν δύναται ἐπὶ τὴν ἡλικίαν αὐτοῦ προσθεῖναι πῆχυν; |

| 26 | If, then, you cannot do even a very little thing, why are you anxious about the rest?
| | εἰ οὖν οὐδὲ ἐλάχιστον δύνασθε, τί περὶ τῶν λοιπῶν μεριμνᾶτὲ; |
|
| 27 | 'Think of the lilies: Some witnesses read: they grow, they do not toil or spin. they neither spin nor weave; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his splendour was not attired like one of these. | | κατανοήσατε τὰ κρίνα πῶς αὐξάνει· οὐ κοπιᾷ οὐδὲ νήθει· λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν, οὐδὲ Σολομὼν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ δόξῃ αὐτοῦ περιεβάλετο ὡς ἓν τούτων. |

| 28 | But if that is how God clothes the grass, which is growing in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown on the stove, how much more will he clothe you! How little faith you have! | | εἰ δὲ ἐν ἀγρῷ τὸν χόρτον ὀντα σήμερον καὶ αὐριον εἰς κλίβανον βαλλόμενον ὁ θεὸς οὑτως ἀμφιέζει, πόσῳ μᾶλλον ὑμᾶς, ὀλιγόπιστοι. |

| 29 | And so you are not to set your mind on food and drink; you are not to worry. | | καὶ ὑμεῖς μὴ ζητεῖτε τί φάγητε καὶ τί πίητε, καὶ μὴ μετεωρίζεσθε· |
|
| 30 | For all these are things for the heathen to run after; but you have a Father who knows that you need them. | | ταῦτα γὰρ πάντα τὰ ἐθνη τοῦ κόσμου ἐπιζητοῦσιν· ὑμῶν δὲ ὁ πατὴρ οἶδεν ὅτι χρῄζετε τούτων. |

| 31 | No, set your mind upon his kingdom, and all the rest will come to you as well. | | πλὴν ζητεῖτε τὴν βασιλείαν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ταῦτα προστεθήσεται ὑμῖν. |
|
| 32 | 'Have no fear, little flock; for your Father has chosen to give you the Kingdom. | | Μὴ φοβοῦ, τὸ μικρὸν ποίμνιον, ὅτι εὐδόκησεν ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν δοῦναι ὑμῖν τὴν βασιλείαν. |

| 33 | Sell your possessions and give in charity. Provide for yourselves purses that do not wear out, and never-failing wealth in heaven, where no thief can get near it, no moth destroy it. | | Πωλήσατε τὰ ὑπάρχοντα ὑμῶν καὶ δότε ἐλεημοσύνην· ποιήσατε ἑαυτοῖς βαλλάντια μὴ παλαιούμενα, θησαυρὸν ἀνέκλειπτον ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς, ὁπου κλέπτης οὐκ ἐγγίζει οὐδὲ σὴς διαφθε ίρει· |

| 34 | For where your wealth is, there will your heart be also.
| | ὁπου γάρ ἐστιν ὁ θησαυρὸς ὑμῶν, ἐκεῖ καὶ ἡ καρδία ὑμῶν ἐσται. |
