| 13 | A man in the crowd said to him, 'Master, tell my brother to divide the family property with me.' | The Parable of the Rich Fool Lk.12.13-21 (Judaea) | Εἶπεν δέ τις ἐκ τοῦ ὀχλου αὐτῷ, Διδάσκαλε, εἰπὲ τῷ ἀδελφῷ μου μερίσασθαι μετ' ἐμοῦ τὴν κληρονομίαν. |

| 14 | He replied, 'My good man, who set me over you to judge or arbitrate?' Some witnesses omit: or arbitrate. | | ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῷ, Ἄνθρωπε, τίς με κατέστησεν κριτὴν ἢ μεριστὴν ἐφ' ὑμᾶς; |

| 15 | Then he said to the people, 'Beware! Be on your guard against greed of every kind, for even when a man has more than enough, his wealth does not give him life.' | | εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτούς, Ὁρᾶτε καὶ φυλάσσεσθε ἀπὸ πάσης πλεονεξίας, ὅτι οὐκ ἐν τῷ περισσεύειν τινὶ ἡ ζωὴ αὐτοῦ ἐστιν ἐκ τῶν ὑπαρχόντων αὐτῷ. |

| 16 | And he told them this parable: 'There was a rich man whose land yielded heavy crops. | | Εἶπεν δὲ παραβολὴν πρὸς αὐτοὺς λέγων, Ἀνθρώπου τινὸς πλουσίου εὐφόρησεν ἡ χώρα. |

| 17 | He debated with himself: "What am I to do? I have not the space to store my produce. | | καὶ διελογίζετο ἐν ἑαυτῷ λέγων, Τί ποιήσω, ὅτι οὐκ ἐχω ποῦ συνάξω τοὺς καρπούς μοὺ; |

| 18 | This is what is I will do," said he: "I will pull down my storehouses and build them bigger. I will collect in them all my corn and other goods, | | καὶ εἶπεν, Τοῦτο ποιήσω· καθελῶ μου τὰς ἀποθήκας καὶ μείζονας οἰκοδομήσω, καὶ συνάξω ἐκεῖ πάντα τὸν σῖτον καὶ τὰ ἀγαθά μου, |

| 19 | and then say to myself, 'Man, you have plenty of good things laid by, enough for many years: take life easy, eat, drink, and enjoy yourself.' " | | καὶ ἐρῶ τῇ ψυχῇ μου, Ψυχή, ἐχεις πολλὰ ἀγαθὰ κείμενα εἰς ἐτη πολλά· ἀναπαύου, φάγε, πίε, εὐφραίνου. |

| 20 | But God said to him, "You fool, this very night you must surrender your life; you have made your money-who will get it now?" | | εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ θεός, Ἄφρων, ταύτῃ τῇ νυκτὶ τὴν ψυχήν σου ἀπαιτοῦσιν ἀπὸ σοῦ· ἂ δὲ ἡτοίμασας, τίνι ἐσταὶ; |

| 21 | That is how it is with the man who amasses wealth for himself and remains a pauper in the sight of God. Some witnesses omit: That ... God; other add at the end: When he said this he cried out, 'If you have ears to hear, then hear.' | | οὑτως ὁ θησαυρίζων ἑαυτῷ καὶ μὴ εἰς θεὸν πλουτῶν. |
