| The seventy-two Some witnesses read: seventy. came back jubilant. 'In your name, is Lord,' they said, 'even the devils submit to us.' | The Return of the Seventy Two Lk.10.17-20 (Judaea) | Ὑπέστρεψαν δὲ οἱ ἑβδομήκοντα δύο μετὰ χαρᾶς λέγοντες, Κύριε, καὶ τὰ δαιμόνια ὑποτάσσεται ἡμῖν ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί σου. |
| He replied, 'I watched how Satan fell, like lightning, out of the sky. |
| And now you see that I have given you the power to tread underfoot snakes and scorpions and all the forces of the enemy, and nothing will ever harm you. Or: and he will have no way at all to harm you. |
| Nevertheless, what you should rejoice over is not that the spirits submit to you, but that your names are enrolled in heaven.'
