New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26) |
About eight days after this conversation he took Peter, John, and James with him and went up into the hills to pray. | The Transfiguration of Jesus Lk.9.28-36 (Mount Hermon) | Mt.17.1-13 | Mk.9.2-13 | Ἐγένετο δὲ μετὰ τοὺς λόγους τούτους ὡσεὶ ἡμέραι ὀκτὼ καὶ παραλαβὼν Πέτρον καὶ Ἰωάννην καὶ Ἰάκωβον ἀνέβη εἰς τὸ ὀρος προσεύξασθαι.
And while he was praying the appearance of his face changed and his clothes became dazzling white; | | καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ προσεύχεσθαι αὐτὸν τὸ εἶδος τοῦ προσώπου αὐτοῦ ἑτερον καὶ ὁ ἱματισμὸς αὐτοῦ λευκὸς ἐξαστράπτων.
Suddenly there were two men talking with him; | | καὶ ἰδοὺ ἀνδρες δύο συνελάλουν αὐτῷ, οἱτινες ἦσαν Μωϋσῆς καὶ Ἠλίας,
these were Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure, the destiny he was to fulfil in Jerusalem.
Meanwhile Peter and his companions had been in a deep sleep; but when they awoke, they saw his glory and the two men who stood beside him.
And as these were moving away from Jesus, Peter said to him, 'Master, how good it is that we are here! Shall we make three shelters one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah?'; but he spoke without knowing what he was saying.
The words were still on his lips, when there came a cloud which cast a shadow over them; they were afraid as they entered the cloud, | | ταῦτα δὲ αὐτοῦ λέγοντος ἐγένετο νεφέλη καὶ ἐπεσκίαζεν αὐτούς· ἐφοβήθησαν δὲ ἐν τῷ εἰσελθεῖν αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν νεφέλην.
and from it came a voice: 'This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him.'
| 36 | When the voice had spoken, Jesus was seen to be alone. The disciples kept silence and at that time told nobody anything of what they had seen.
