2 | and sent them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal. | | καὶ ἀπέστειλεν αὐτοὺς κηρύσσειν τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἰᾶσθαι τοὺς ἀσθενεῖς, |

3 | 'Take nothing for the journey,' he told them, 'neither stick nor pack, neither bread nor money; nor are you each to have a second coat. | | καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς, Μηδὲν αἰρετε εἰς τὴν ὁδόν, μήτε ῥάβδον μήτε πήραν μήτε ἀρτον μήτε ἀργύριον, μήτε ἀνὰ δύο χιτῶνας ἐχειν. |

4 | When you are admitted to a house, stay there, and go on from there. | | καὶ εἰς ἣν ἂν οἰκίαν εἰσέλθητε, ἐκεῖ μένετε καὶ ἐκεῖθεν ἐξέρχεσθε. |

5 | As for those who will not receive you, when you leave their town shake the dust off your feet as a warning to them.' | | καὶ ὁσοι ἂν μὴ δέχωνται ὑμᾶς, ἐξερχόμενοι ἀπὸ τῆς πόλεως ἐκείνης τὸν κονιορτὸν ἀπὸ τῶν ποδῶν ὑμῶν ἀποτινάσσετε εἰς μαρτύριον ἐπ' αὐτούς. |

6 | So they set out and travelled from village to village, and everywhere they told the good news and healed the sick.
| | ἐξερχόμενοι δὲ διήρχοντο κατὰ τὰς κώμας εὐαγγελιζόμενοι καὶ θεραπεύοντες πανταχοῦ. |

9 | Herod said, 'As for John, I beheaded him myself; but who is this I hear such talk about?' And he was anxious to see him.
| | εἶπεν δὲ Ἡρῴδης, Ἰωάννην ἐγὼ ἀπεκεφάλισα· τίς δέ ἐστιν οὗτος περὶ οὗ ἀκούω τοιαῦτὰ καὶ ἐζήτει ἰδεῖν αὐτόν. |
