6 katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE Passage New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26)

6 1On a sabbath, while he was going through the grainfields, his disciples plucked and ate some heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands.Plucking Grain on the Sabbath Lk.6.1-5 (Galilee) | Mt.12.1-8 | Mk.2.23-28Ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν σαββάτῳ διαπορεύεσθαι αὐτὸν διὰ σπορίμων, καὶ ἐτιλλον οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἠσθιον τοὺς στάχυας ψώχοντες ταῖς χερσίν.
2But some of the Pharisees said, "Why are you doing what is not lawful to do on the sabbath?"  τινὲς δὲ τῶν Φαρισαίων εἶπαν, Τί ποιεῖτε ὃ οὐκ ἐξεστιν τοῖς σάββασιν;
3And Jesus answered, "Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς πρὸς αὐτοὺς εἶπεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς, Οὐδὲ τοῦτο ἀνέγνωτε ὃ ἐποίησεν Δαυὶδ ὅτε ἐπείνασεν αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ μετ' αὐτοῦ ὀντες;
4how he entered the house of God, and took and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those with him?" ὡς εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ τοὺς ἀρτους τῆς προθέσεως λαβὼν ἐφαγεν καὶ ἐδωκεν τοῖς μετ' αὐτοῦ, οὓς οὐκ ἐξεστιν φαγεῖν εἰ μὴ μόνους τοὺς ἱερεῖς;
5And he said to them, "The Son of man is lord of the sabbath." καὶ ἐλεγεν αὐτοῖς, Κύριός ἐστιν τοῦ σαββάτου ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου.

Notes: This page displays passages from the katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE.
The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.

The katapi New Study Bible reference section displays links to parallel passages, and to direct quotations by New Testament authors to Old Testament passages. Quotations of OT passages by NT authors can in most cases be viewed within their context of the OT passage as a whole, with the quoted text displayed, against a subdued background.
