5 New English Bible (New Testament) Passage New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26)

27Later, when he went out, he saw a tax-gatherer, Levi by name, at his seat in the custom-house.The Calling of Levi Lk.5.27-32 (Capernaum) | Mt.9.9-13 | Mk.2.13-17Καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα ἐξῆλθεν καὶ ἐθεάσατο τελώνην ὀνόματι Λευὶν καθήμενον ἐπὶ τὸ τελώνιον, καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ, Ἀκολούθει μοι.
28He said to him, 'Follow me'; and he rose to his feet, left everything behind, and followed him.
 καὶ καταλιπὼν πάντα ἀναστὰς ἠκολούθει αὐτῷ.
29Afterwards Levi held a big reception in his house for Jesus; among the guests was a large party of tax-gatherers and others.
30The Pharisees and the lawyers of their sect complained to his disciples: 'Why do you eat and drink', they said, 'with tax-gatherers and sinners?' καὶ ἐγόγγυζον οἱ Φαρισαῖοι καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς αὐτῶν πρὸς τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ λέγοντες, Διὰ τί μετὰ τῶν τελωνῶν καὶ ἀμαρτωλῶν ἐσθίετε καὶ πίνετὲ;
31Jesus answered them: 'It is not the healthy that need a doctor, but the sick; καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς, Οὐ χρείαν ἐχουσιν οἱ ὑγιαίνοντες ἰατροῦ ἀλλὰ οἱ κακῶς ἐχοντες·
32I have not come to invite virtuous people, but to call sinners to repentance.'
 οὐκ ἐλήλυθα καλέσαι δικαίους ἀλλὰ ἀμαρτωλοὺς εἰς μετάνοιαν.
