2 katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE Passage New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26)

29"Lord, now let your servant depart in peace,
according to your word;
Song of Simeon Odes.12.29-32 | Νῦν ἀπολύεις τὸν δοῦλόν σου, δέσποτα,
30for my eyes have seen your salvation
31which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
32a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and for glory to your people Israel."
33And his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him; καὶ ἦν ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἡ μήτηρ θαυμάζοντες ἐπὶ τοῖς λαλουμένοις περὶ αὐτοῦ.
34and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, "Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is spoken against καὶ εὐλόγησεν αὐτοὺς Συμεὼν καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς Μαριὰμ τὴν μητέρα αὐτοῦ, Ἰδοὺ οὗτος κεῖται εἰς πτῶσιν καὶ ἀνάστασιν πολλῶν ἐν τῷ Ἰσραὴλ καὶ εἰς σημεῖον ἀντιλεγόμενον
35(and a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that thoughts out of many hearts may be revealed."
36And there was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher; she was of a great age, having lived with her husband seven years from her virginity, Καὶ ἦν Ἅννα προφῆτις, θυγάτηρ φανουήλ, ἐκ φυλῆς Ἀσήρ· αὑτη προβεβηκυῖα ἐν ἡμέραις πολλαῖς, ζήσασα μετὰ ἀνδρὸς ἐτη ἑπτὰ ἀπὸ τῆς παρθενίας αὐτῆς,
37and as a widow till she was eighty-four. She did not depart from the temple, worshipping with fasting and prayer night and day.
38And coming up at that very hour she gave thanks to God, and spoke of him to all who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.
39And when they had performed everything according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city, Nazareth.The Return to Nazareth Lk.2.39-40 (Nazareth)Καὶ ὡς ἐτέλεσαν πάντα τὰ κατὰ τὸν νόμον κυρίου, ἐπέστρεψαν εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν εἰς πόλιν ἑαυτῶν Nαζαρέθ.
40And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favour of God was upon him.
41Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the Passover.The Boy Jesus in the Temple Lk.2.41-52 (Jerusalem)Καὶ ἐπορεύοντο οἱ γονεῖς αὐτοῦ κατ' ἐτος εἰς Ἰερουσαλὴμ τῇ ἑορτῇ τοῦ πάσχα.
42And when he was twelve years old, they went up according to custom; καὶ ὅτε ἐγένετο ἐτῶν δώδεκα, ἀναβαινόντων αὐτῶν κατὰ τὸ ἐθος τῆς ἑορτῆς
43and when the feast was ended, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it, καὶ τελειωσάντων τὰς ἡμέρας, ἐν τῷ ὑποστρέφειν αὐτοὺς ὑπέμεινεν Ἰησοῦς ὁ παῖς ἐν Ἰερουσαλήμ, καὶ οὐκ ἐγνωσαν οἱ γονεῖς αὐτοῦ.
44but supposing him to be in the company they went a day's journey, and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintances;
45and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking him.
46After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions; καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ ἡμέρας τρεῖς εὗρον αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ καθεζόμενον ἐν μέσῳ τῶν διδασκάλων καὶ ἀκούοντα αὐτῶν καὶ ἐπερωτῶντα αὐτούς·
47and all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.
48And when they saw him they were astonished; and his mother said to him, "Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been looking for you anxiously."
49And he said to them, "How is it that you sought me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?" καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς, Τί ὅτι ἐζητεῖτέ μὲ οὐκ ᾐδειτε ὅτι ἐν τοῖς τοῦ πατρός μου δεῖ εἶναί μὲ;

Notes: This page displays passages from the katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE.
The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.

The katapi New Study Bible reference section displays links to parallel passages, and to direct quotations by New Testament authors to Old Testament passages. Quotations of OT passages by NT authors can in most cases be viewed within their context of the OT passage as a whole, with the quoted text displayed, against a subdued background.
