| 3 | For this purpose everyone made his way to his own town; | | καὶ ἐπορεύοντο πάντες ἀπογράφεσθαι, ἑκαστος εἰς τὴν ἑαυτοῦ πόλιν. |

| 5 | to register at the city of David, called Bethlehem, 4. because he was of the house of David by descent; 5. and with him went Mary who was betrothed to him. She was expecting a child, | | ἀπογράψασθαι σὺν Μαριὰμ τῇ ἐμνηστευμένῃ αὐτῷ, οὐσῃ ἐγκύῳ. |

| 6 | and while they were there the time came for her child to be born, | | ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῷ εἶναι αὐτοὺς ἐκεῖ ἐπλήσθησαν αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ τεκεῖν αὐτήν, |

| 7 | and she gave birth to a son, her first-born. She wrapped him in his swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them to lodge in the house. | | καὶ ἐτεκεν τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς τὸν πρωτότοκον· καὶ ἐσπαργάνωσεν αὐτὸν καὶ ἀνέκλινεν αὐτὸν ἐν φάτνῃ, διότι οὐκ ἦν αὐτοῖς τόπος ἐν τῷ καταλύματι. |
