57	Now the time came for Elizabeth to be delivered, and she gave birth to a son.	The Birth of John the Baptist Lk.1.57-66 (Hebron)	Τῇ δὲ Ἐλισάβετ ἐπλήσθη ὁ χρόνος τοῦ τεκεῖν αὐτήν, καὶ ἐγέννησεν υἱόν.
58	And her neighbours and kinsfolk heard that the Lord had shown great mercy to her, and they rejoiced with her.		καὶ ἠκουσαν οἱ περίοικοι καὶ οἱ συγγενεῖς αὐτῆς ὅτι ἐμεγάλυνεν κύριος τὸ ἐλεος αὐτοῦ μετ' αὐτῆς, καὶ συνέχαιρον αὐτῇ.
59	And on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they would have named him Zechariah after his father,		Καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ὀγδόῃ ἦλθον περιτεμεῖν τὸ παιδίον, καὶ ἐκάλουν αὐτὸ ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματι τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ Ζαχαρίαν.
60	but his mother said, "Not so; he shall be called John."		καὶ ἀποκριθεῖσα ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ εἶπεν, Οὐχί, ἀλλὰ κληθήσεται Ἰωάννης.
61	And they said to her, "None of your kindred is called by this name."		καὶ εἶπαν πρὸς αὐτὴν ὅτι Οὐδείς ἐστιν ἐκ τῆς συγγενείας σου ὃς καλεῖται τῷ ὀνόματι τούτῳ.
62	And they made signs to his father, inquiring what he would have him called.		ἐνένευον δὲ τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ τὸ τί ἂν θέλοι καλεῖσθαι αὐτό.
63	And he asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, "His name is John." And they all marveled.		καὶ αἰτήσας πινακίδιον ἐγραψεν λέγων, Ἰωάννης ἐστὶν ὀνομα αὐτοῦ. καὶ ἐθαύμασαν πάντες.
64	And immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue loosed, and he spoke, blessing God.		ἀνεῴχθη δὲ τὸ στόμα αὐτοῦ παραχρῆμα καὶ ἡ γλῶσσα αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐλάλει εὐλογῶν τὸν θεόν.
65	And fear came on all their neighbours. And all these things were talked about through all the hill country of Judea;		καὶ ἐγένετο ἐπὶ πάντας φόβος τοὺς περιοικοῦντας αὐτούς, καὶ ἐν ὁλῃ τῇ ὀρεινῇ τῆς Ἰουδαίας διελαλεῖτο πάντα τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα,
66	and all who heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, "What then will this child be?" For the hand of the Lord was with him.		καὶ ἐθεντο πάντες οἱ ἀκούσαντες ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτῶν, λέγοντες, Τί ἀρα τὸ παιδίον τοῦτο ἐσταὶ καὶ γὰρ χεὶρ κυρίου ἦν μετ' αὐτοῦ.

The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.

Quotations of OT passages by NT authors can in most cases be viewed within their context of the OT passage as a whole, with the quoted text displayed, against a subdued background.
