33And when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.The Death of Jesus Mk.15.33-41 (Golgotha) | Mt.27.45-56 | Lk.23.44-49 | Jn.19.28-30Καὶ γενομένης ὡρας ἑκτης σκότος ἐγένετο ἐφ' ὁλην τὴν γῆν ἑως ὡρας ἐνάτης.
34And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, "Elo-i, Elo-i, lama sabach-thani?" which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" - My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Mk.15.34 | Ps.22.1 | Ps.109.25καὶ τῇ ἐνάτῃ ὡρᾳ ἐβόησεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς φωνῇ μεγάλῃ, Ελωι ελωι λεμα σαβαχθανι; ὁ ἐστιν μεθερμηνευόμενον Ὁ θεός μου ὁ θεός μου, εἰς τί ἐγκατέλιπές με;
35And some of the bystanders hearing it said, "Behold, he is calling Elijah." καί τινες τῶν παρεστηκότων ἀκούσαντες ἐλεγον, Ἴδε Ἠλίαν φωνεῖ.
36And one ran and, filling a sponge full of vinegar, put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink, saying, "Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to take him down." - And one ran [and,] filling a sponge full of vinegar Mk.15.36 | Ps.69.21δραμὼν δέ τις καὶ γεμίσας σπόγγον ὄξους περιθεὶς καλάμῳ ἐπότιζεν αὐτόν, λέγων, Ἄφετε ἰδωμεν εἰ ἐρχεται Ἠλίας καθελεῖν αὐτόν.
37And Jesus uttered a loud cry, and breathed his last. ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς ἀφεὶς φωνὴν μεγάλην ἐξέπνευσεν.
38And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. Καὶ τὸ καταπέτασμα τοῦ ναοῦ ἐσχίσθη εἰς δύο ἀπ' ἀνωθεν ἑως κάτω.
39And when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that he thus breathed his last, he said, "Truly this man was the Son of God!"  Ἰδὼν δὲ ὁ κεντυρίων ὁ παρεστηκὼς ἐξ ἐναντίας αὐτοῦ ὅτι οὑτως ἐξέπνευσεν εἶπεν, Ἀληθῶς οὗτος ὁ ἄνθρωπος υἱὸς θεοῦ ἦν.
40There were also women looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome, Ἦσαν δὲ καὶ γυναῖκες ἀπὸ μακρόθεν θεωροῦσαι, ἐν αἷς καὶ Μαρία ἡ Μαγδαληνὴ καὶ Μαρία ἡ Ἰακώβου τοῦ μικροῦ καὶ Ἰωσῆτος μήτηρ καὶ Σαλώμη,
41who, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered to him; and also many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem. αἳ ὅτε ἦν ἐν τῇ Γαλιλαίᾳ ἠκολούθουν αὐτῷ καὶ διηκόνουν αὐτῷ, καὶ ἀλλαι πολλαὶ αἱ συναναβᾶσαι αὐτῷ εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα.
