| 58 | 'We heard him say, "I will throw down this temple, made with human hands, and in three days I will build another, not made with hands." ' | ὁτι Ἡμεῖς ἠκούσαμεν αὐτοῦ λέγοντος ὅτι Ἐγὼ καταλύσω τὸν ναὸν τοῦτον τὸν χειροποίητον καὶ διὰ τριῶν ἡμερῶν ἀλλον ἀχειροποίητον οἰκοδομήσω· | |

| 60 | Then the High Priest stood up in his place and questioned Jesus: 'Have you no answer to the charges that these witnesses bring against you?' | καὶ ἀναστὰς ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς εἰς μέσον ἐπηρώτησεν τὸν Ἰησοῦν λέγων, Οὐκ ἀποκρίνῃ οὐδέν; τί οὗτοί σου καταμαρτυροῦσιν; | |
| 61 | But he kept silence; he made no reply. Again the High Priest questioned him: 'Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?' | ὁ δὲ ἐσιώπα καὶ οὐκ ἀπεκρίνατο οὐδέν. πάλιν ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς ἐπηρώτα αὐτὸν καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ, Σὺ εἶ ὁ Χριστὸς ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ εὐλογητοῦ; | |

| 63 | Then the High Priest tore his robes and said, 'Need we call further witnesses? | ὁ δὲ ἀρχιερεὺς διαρρήξας τοὺς χιτῶνας αὐτοῦ λέγει, Τί ἐτι χρείαν ἐχομεν μαρτύρων; | |
| 64 | You have heard the blasphemy. What is your opinion?' Their judgement was unanimous: that he was guilty and should be put to death. | ἠκούσατε τῆς βλασφημίας· τί ὑμῖν φαίνεταὶ οἱ δὲ πάντες κατέκριναν αὐτὸν ἐνοχον εἶναι θανάτου. | |
| 65 | Some began to spit on him, blindfolded him, and struck him with their fists, crying out, 'Prophesy!' Some witnesses add: Who hit you? (as in Matthew and Luke.) And the High Priest's men set upon him with blows. | Καὶ ἠρξαντό τινες ἐμπτύειν αὐτῷ καὶ περικαλύπτειν αὐτοῦ τὸ πρόσωπον καὶ κολαφίζειν αὐτὸν καὶ λέγειν αὐτῷ, Προφήτευσον, καὶ οἱ ὑπηρέται ῥαπίσμασιν αὐτὸν ἐλαβον. | |
