34 | They were silent, because on the way they had been discussing who was the greatest. | | οἱ δὲ ἐσιώπων, πρὸς ἀλλήλους γὰρ διελέχθησαν ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ τίς μείζων. |

35 | He sat down, called the Twelve, and said to them, 'If anyone wants to be first, he must make himself last of all and servant of all.' | | καὶ καθίσας ἐφώνησεν τοὺς δώδεκα καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς, Εἴ τις θέλει πρῶτος εἶναι ἐσται πάντων ἐσχατος καὶ πάντων διάκονος. |

36 | Then he took a child, set him in front of them, and put his arm round him. | | καὶ λαβὼν παιδίον ἐστησεν αὐτὸ ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν καὶ ἐναγκαλισάμενος αὐτὸ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, |

37 | 'Whoever receives one of these children in my name', he said, 'receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me.'
| | Ὃς ἂν ἓν τῶν τοιούτων παιδίων δέξηται ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου, ἐμὲ δέχεται· καὶ ὃς ἂν ἐμὲ δέχηται, οὐκ ἐμὲ δέχεται ἀλλὰ τὸν ἀποστείλαντά με. |
