New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26) |
| 45 | 'Who is the trusty servant, the sensible man charged by his master to manage his household staff and issue their rations at the proper time? | The Faithful or the Unfaithful Servant Mt.24.45-51 (Olivet) | Lk.12.41-48 | Τίς ἀρα ἐστὶν ὁ πιστὸς δοῦλος καὶ φρόνιμος ὃν κατέστησεν ὁ κύριος ἐπὶ τῆς οἰκετείας αὐτοῦ τοῦ δοῦναι αὐτοῖς τὴν τροφὴν ἐν καιρῷ; |
| 46 | Happy that servant who is found at his task when his master comes! | | μακάριος ὁ δοῦλος ἐκεῖνος ὃν ἐλθὼν ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ εὑρήσει οὑτως ποιοῦντα· |
| 47 | I tell you this: he will be put in charge of all his master's property. | | ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐπὶ πᾶσιν τοῖς ὑπάρχουσιν αὐτοῦ καταστήσει αὐτόν. |
| 48 | But if he is a bad servant and says to himself, "The master is a long time coming", | | ἐὰν δὲ εἰπῃ ὁ κακὸς δοῦλος ἐκεῖνος ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ, Χρονίζει μου ὁ κύριος, |
| 49 | and begins to bully the other servants and to eat and drink with his drunken friends, | | καὶ ἀρξηται τύπτειν τοὺς συνδούλους αὐτοῦ, ἐσθίῃ δὲ καὶ πίνῃ μετὰ τῶν μεθυόντων, |
| 50 | then the master will arrive on a day that servant does not expect, at a time he does not know, | | ἡξει ὁ κύριος τοῦ δούλου ἐκείνου ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ᾗ οὐ προσδοκᾷ καὶ ἐν ὡρᾳ ᾗ οὐ γινώσκει, |
| 51 | and will cut him in pieces. Thus he will find his place among the hypocrites, where there is wailing and grinding of teeth.
