| 2 | He sat there, and all the people stood on the shore. | καὶ συνήχθησαν πρὸς αὐτὸν ὀχλοι πολλοί, ὡστε αὐτὸν εἰς πλοῖον ἐμβάντα καθῆσθαι, καὶ πᾶς ὁ ὀχλος ἐπὶ τὸν αἰγιαλὸν εἱστήκει. | |
| 3 | He spoke to them in parables, at some length. He said: 'A sower went out to sow. | καὶ ἐλάλησεν αὐτοῖς πολλὰ ἐν παραβολαῖς λέγων, Ἰδοὺ ἐξῆλθεν ὁ σπείρων τοῦ σπείρειν. | |

| 5 | Some seed fell on rocky ground, where it had little soil; it sprouted quickly because it had no depth of earth, | ἀλλα δὲ ἐπεσεν ἐπὶ τὰ πετρώδη ὁπου οὐκ εἶχεν γῆν πολλήν, καὶ εὐθέως ἐξανέτειλεν διὰ τὸ μὴ ἐχειν βάθος γῆς. | |
| 6 | but when the sun rose the young corn was scorched, and as it had no root it withered away. | ἡλίου δὲ ἀνατείλαντος ἐκαυματίσθη καὶ διὰ τὸ μὴ ἐχειν ῥίζαν ἐξηράνθη. | |
| 7 | Some seed fell among thistles; and the thistles shot up, and choked the corn. | ἀλλα δὲ ἐπεσεν ἐπὶ τὰς ἀκάνθας, καὶ ἀνέβησαν αἱ ἀκανθαι καὶ ἐπνιξαν αὐτά. | |
| 8 | And some of the seed fell into good soil, where it bore fruit, yielding a hundredfold or, it might be, sixtyfold or thirtyfold. | ἀλλα δὲ ἐπεσεν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν τὴν καλὴν καὶ ἐδίδου καρπόν, ὃ μὲν ἑκατόν, ὃ δὲ ἑξήκοντα, ὃ δὲ τριάκοντα. | |
