New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26) |
| 8 1 | AFTER HE HAD COME DOWN from the hill he was followed by a great crowd. | The Cleansing of a Leper Mt.8.1-4 (Galilee) | Mk.1.40-45 | Lk.5.12-16 | Καταβάντος δὲ αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τοῦ ὀρους ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ ὀχλοι πολλοί. |
| 2 | And now a leper The words leper, leprosy, as used in this translation, refer to some disfiguring skin disease which entailed ceremonial defilement. It is different from what is now called leprosy. approached him, bowed low, and said, 'Sir, if only you will, you can cleanse me.' |
| 3 | Jesus stretched out his hand, touched him, and said, 'Indeed I will; be clean again.' And his leprosy was cured immediately. |
| 4 | Then Jesus said to him, 'Be sure you tell nobody; but go and show yourself to the priest, and make the offering laid down by Moses for your cleansing; that will certify the cure.'
