New English Bible (New Testament) Passage New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26)

'You have learned that they were told, "Love your neighbour, hate your enemy."Love for Enemies Mt.5.43-48 (Galilee) | Lk.6.27-28 | Lk.6.32-36Ἠκούσατε ὅτι ἐρρέθη, Ἀγαπήσεις τὸν πλησίον σου καὶ μισήσεις τὸν ἐχθρόν σου.
But what I tell you is this: Love your enemies Some witnesses insert: bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you. and pray for your persecutors; Some witnesses insert: and those who treat you spitefully.
only so can you be children of your heavenly Father, who makes his sun rise on good and bad alike, and sends the rain on the honest and the dishonest.
If you love only those who love you, what reward can you expect? Surely the tax-gatherers do as much as that. ἐὰν γὰρ ἀγαπήσητε τοὺς ἀγαπῶντας ὑμᾶς, τίνα μισθὸν ἐχετὲ; οὐχὶ καὶ οἱ τελῶναι τὸ αὐτὸ ποιοῦσιν;
And if you greet only your brothers, what is there extraordinary about that? Even the heathen do as much. καὶ ἐὰν ἀσπάσησθε τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς ὑμῶν μόνον, τί περισσὸν ποιεῖτὲ; οὐχὶ καὶ οἱ ἐθνικοὶ τὸ αὐτὸ ποιοῦσιν;
You must therefore be all goodness, just as your heavenly Father is all good.
