"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.'Teaching about Retaliation Mt.5.38-42 (Galilee) | Lk.6.29-30Ἠκούσατε ὅτι ἐρρέθη, Ὀφθαλμὸν ἀντὶ ὀφθαλμοῦ καὶ ὀδόντα ἀντὶ ὀδόντος.
But I say to you, Do not resist one who is evil. But if anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also; ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν μὴ ἀντιστῆναι τῷ πονηρῷ· ἀλλ' ὁστις σε ῥαπίζει εἰς τὴν δεξιὰν σιαγόνα σου, στρέψον αὐτῷ καὶ τὴν ἀλλην·
and if anyone would sue you and take your coat, let him have your cloak as well; καὶ τῷ θέλοντί σοι κριθῆναι καὶ τὸν χιτῶνά σου λαβεῖν, ἀφες αὐτῷ καὶ τὸ ἱμάτιον·
and if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. καὶ ὁστις σε ἀγγαρεύσει μίλιον ἑν, ὑπαγε μετ' αὐτοῦ δύο.
Give to him who begs from you, and do not refuse him who would borrow from you. τῷ αἰτοῦντί σε δός, καὶ τὸν θέλοντα ἀπὸ σοῦ δανίσασθαι μὴ ἀποστραφῇς.
