11 katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE Passage Biblia Hebraica

11 1The Spirit lifted me up, and brought me to the east gate of the house of Yahweh, which faces east. And behold, at the door of the gateway there were twenty-five men; and I saw among them Jaazaniah the son of Azzur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.Jerusalem condemned.
2And he said to me, "Son of man, these are the men who devise iniquity and who give wicked counsel in this city; וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָי בֶּן־אָדָם אֵלֶּה הָאֲנָשִׁים הַחֹשְׁבִים אָוֶן וְהַיֹּעֲצִים עֲצַת־רָע בָּעִיר הַזֹּאת׃
3who say, 'The time is not near to build houses; this city is the caldron, and we are the flesh.'
4Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, O son of man."
5And the Spirit of Yahweh fell upon me, and he said to me, "Say, Thus says Yahweh: So you think, O house of Israel; for I know the things that come into your mind.
6You have multiplied your slain in this city, and have filled its streets with the slain.
7Therefore thus says Yahweh GOD: Your slain whom you have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and this city is the caldron; but you shall be brought forth out of the midst of it.
8You have feared the sword; and I will bring the sword upon you, says Yahweh GOD.
9And I will bring you forth out of the midst of it, and give you into the hands of foreigners, and execute judgments upon you.
10You shall fall by the sword; I will judge you at the border of Israel; and you shall know that I am Yahweh.
11This city shall not be your caldron, nor shall you be the flesh in the midst of it; I will judge you at the border of Israel;
12and you shall know that I am Yahweh; for you have not walked in my statutes, nor executed my ordinances, but have acted according to the ordinances of the nations that are round about you."
13And it came to pass, while I was prophesying, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then I fell down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said, "Ah Yahweh GOD! will you make a full end of the remnant of Israel?"

Notes: This page displays passages from the katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE.
The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.

The katapi New Study Bible reference section displays links to parallel passages, and to direct quotations by New Testament authors to Old Testament passages. Quotations of OT passages by NT authors can in most cases be viewed within their context of the OT passage as a whole, with the quoted text displayed, against a subdued background.
