| 13 | "Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness, and his upper rooms by injustice; who makes his neighbour serve him for nothing, and does not give him his wages; | Jeremiah's message concerning Jehoiakim. Jr.22.13-19 | הֹוי בֹּנֶה בֵיתֹו בְּלֹא־צֶדֶק וַעֲלִיֹּותָיו בְּלֹא מִשְׁפָּט בְּרֵעֵהוּ יַעֲבֹד חִנָּם וּפֹעֲלֹו לֹא יִתֶּן־לֹו׃ |
| 14 | who says, 'I will build myself a great house with spacious upper rooms,' and cuts out windows for it, paneling it with cedar, and painting it with vermilion. | הָאֹמֵר אֶבְנֶה־לִּי בֵּית מִדֹּות וַעֲלִיֹּות מְרֻוָּחִים וְקָרַע לֹו חַלֹּונָי וְסָפוּן בָּאָרֶז וּמָשֹׁוחַ בַּשָּׁשַׁר׃ | |
| 15 | Do you think you are a king because you compete in cedar? Did not your father eat and drink and do justice and righteousness? Then it was well with him. | הֲתִמְלֹךְ כִּי אַתָּה מְתַחֲרֶה בָאָרֶז אָבִיךָ הֲלֹוא אָכַל וְשָׁתָה וְעָשָׂה מִשְׁפָּט וּצְדָקָה אָז טֹוב לֹו׃ | |
| 16 | He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well. Is not this to know me? says Yahweh. | דָּן דִּין־עָנִי וְאֶבְיֹון אָז טֹוב הֲלֹוא־הִיא הַדַּעַת אֹתִי נְאֻם־יְהוָה׃ | |
| 17 | But you have eyes and heart only for your dishonest gain, for shedding innocent blood, and for practicing oppression and violence." | כִּי אֵין עֵינֶיךָ וְלִבְּךָ כִּי אִם־עַל־בִּצְעֶךָ וְעַל דַּם־הַנָּקִי לִשְׁפֹּוךְ וְעַל־הָעֹשֶׁק וְעַל־הַמְּרוּצָה לַעֲשֹׂות׃ ס | |
| 18 | Therefore thus says Yahweh concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah: "They shall not lament for him, saying, | לָכֵן כֹּה־אָמַר יְהוָה אֶל־יְהֹויָקִים בֶּן־יֹאשִׁיָּהוּ מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה לֹא־יִסְפְּדוּ לֹו הֹוי אָחִי וְהֹוי אָחֹות לֹא־יִסְפְּדוּ לֹו הֹוי אָדֹון וְהֹוי הֹדֹה׃ק | |
| 19 | With the burial of an ass he shall be buried, dragged and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem." | קְבוּרַת חֲמֹור יִקָּבֵר סָחֹוב וְהַשְׁלֵךְ מֵהָלְאָה לְשַׁעֲרֵי יְרוּשָׁלִָם׃ ס | |
