13	On the morrow Moses sat to judge the people, and the people stood about Moses from morning till evening.	Appointment of Judges. Ex.18.13-27 \| Dt.1.9-18	וַיְהִי מִמָּחֳרָת וַיֵּשֶׁב מֹשֶׁה לִשְׁפֹּט אֶת־הָעָם וַיַּעֲמֹד הָעָם עַל־מֹשֶׁה מִן־הַבֹּקֶר עַד־הָעָרֶב׃
14	When Moses' father-in-law saw all that he was doing for the people, he said, "What is this that you are doing for the people? Why do you sit alone, and all the people stand about you from morning till evening?"		וַיַּרְא חֹתֵן מֹשֶׁה אֵת כָּל־אֲשֶׁר־הוּא עֹשֶׂה לָעָם וַיֹּאמֶר מָה־הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר אַתָּה עֹשֶׂה לָעָם מַדּוּעַ אַתָּה יֹושֵׁב לְבַדֶּךָ וְכָל־הָעָם נִצָּב עָלֶיךָ מִן־בֹּקֶר עַד־עָרֶב׃
15	And Moses said to his father-in-law, "Because the people come to me to inquire of God;		וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה לְחֹתְנֹו כִּי־יָבֹא אֵלַי הָעָם לִדְרֹשׁ אֱלֹהִים׃
16	when they have a dispute, they come to me and I decide between a man and his neighbour, and I make them know the statutes of God and his decisions."		כִּי־יִהְיֶה לָהֶם דָּבָר בָּא אֵלַי וְשָׁפַטְתִּי בֵּין אִישׁ וּבֵין רֵעֵהוּ וְהֹודַעְתִּי אֶת־חֻקֵּי הָאֱלֹהִים וְאֶת־תֹּורֹתָיו׃
17	Moses' father-in-law said to him, "What you are doing is not good.		וַיֹּאמֶר חֹתֵן מֹשֶׁה אֵלָיו לֹא־טֹוב הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר אַתָּה עֹשֶׂה׃
18	You and the people with you will wear yourselves out, for the thing is too heavy for you; you are not able to perform it alone.		נָבֹל תִּבֹּל גַּם־אַתָּה גַּם־הָעָם הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר עִמָּךְ כִּי־כָבֵד מִמְּךָ הַדָּבָר לֹא־תוּכַל עֲשֹׂהוּ לְבַדֶּךָ׃
19	Listen now to my voice; I will give you counsel, and God be with you! You shall represent the people before God, and bring their cases to God;		עַתָּה שְׁמַע בְּקֹלִי אִיעָצְךָ וִיהִי אֱלֹהִים עִמָּךְ הֱיֵה אַתָּה לָעָם מוּל הָאֱלֹהִים וְהֵבֵאתָ אַתָּה אֶת־הַדְּבָרִים אֶל־הָאֱלֹהִים׃
20	and you shall teach them the statutes and the decisions, and make them know the way in which they must walk and what they must do.		וְהִזְהַרְתָּה אֶתְהֶם אֶת־הַחֻקִּים וְאֶת־הַתֹּורֹת וְהֹודַעְתָּ לָהֶם אֶת־הַדֶּרֶךְ יֵלְכוּ בָהּ וְאֶת־הַמַּעֲשֶׂה אֲשֶׁר יַעֲשׂוּן׃
21	Moreover choose able men from all the people, such as fear God, men who are trustworthy and who hate a bribe; and place such men over the people as rulers of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens.		וְאַתָּה תֶחֱזֶה מִכָּל־הָעָם אַנְשֵׁי־חַיִל יִרְאֵי אֱלֹהִים אַנְשֵׁי אֱמֶת שֹׂנְאֵי בָצַע וְשַׂמְתָּ עֲלֵהֶם שָׂרֵי אֲלָפִים שָׂרֵי מֵאֹות שָׂרֵי חֲמִשִּׁים וְשָׂרֵי עֲשָׂרֹת׃
22	And let them judge the people at all times; every great matter they shall bring to you, but any small matter they shall decide themselves; so it will be easier for you, and they will bear the burden with you.		וְשָׁפְטוּ אֶת־הָעָם בְּכָל־עֵת וְהָיָה כָּל־הַדָּבָר הַגָּדֹל יָבִיאוּ אֵלֶיךָ וְכָל־הַדָּבָר הַקָּטֹן יִשְׁפְּטוּ־הֵם וְהָקֵל מֵעָלֶיךָ וְנָשְׂאוּ אִתָּךְ׃
23	If you do this, and God so commands you, then you will be able to endure, and all this people also will go to their place in peace."		אִם אֶת־הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה תַּעֲשֶׂה וְצִוְּךָ אֱלֹהִים וְיָכָלְתָּ עֲמֹד וְגַם כָּל־הָעָם הַזֶּה עַל־מְקֹמֹו יָבֹא בְשָׁלֹום׃
24	So Moses gave heed to the voice of his father-in-law and did all that he had said.		וַיִּשְׁמַע מֹשֶׁה לְקֹול חֹתְנֹו וַיַּעַשׂ כֹּל אֲשֶׁר אָמָר׃
25	Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens.		וַיִּבְחַר מֹשֶׁה אַנְשֵׁי־חַיִל מִכָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּתֵּן אֹתָם רָאשִׁים עַל־הָעָם שָׂרֵי אֲלָפִים שָׂרֵי מֵאֹות שָׂרֵי חֲמִשִּׁים וְשָׂרֵי עֲשָׂרֹת׃
26	And they judged the people at all times; hard cases they brought to Moses, but any small matter they decided themselves.		וְשָׁפְטוּ אֶת־הָעָם בְּכָל־עֵת אֶת־הַדָּבָר הַקָּשֶׁה יְבִיאוּן אֶל־מֹשֶׁה וְכָל־הַדָּבָר הַקָּטֹן יִשְׁפּוּטוּ הֵם׃
27	Then Moses let his father-in-law depart, and he went his way to his own country.		וַיְשַׁלַּח מֹשֶׁה אֶת־חֹתְנֹו וַיֵּלֶךְ לֹו אֶל־אַרְצֹו׃ ף

The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.
