| 137 1 | By the waters of Babylon, there we sat down and wept, when we remembered Zion. | By the Rivers of Babylon. Psalm 137(v136) | עַל נַהֲרֹות בָּבֶל שָׁם יָשַׁבְנוּ גַּם־בָּכִינוּ בְּזָכְרֵנוּ אֶת־צִיֹּון׃ |
| 2 | On the willows there we hung up our lyres. | עַל־עֲרָבִים בְּתֹוכָהּ תָּלִינוּ כִּנֹּרֹותֵינוּ׃ | |
| 3 | For there our captors required of us songs, and our tormentors, mirth, saying, "Sing us one of the songs of Zion!" | כִּי שָׁם שְׁאֵלוּנוּ שֹׁובֵינוּ דִּבְרֵי־שִׁיר וְתֹולָלֵינוּ שִׂמְחָה שִׁירוּ לָנוּ מִשִּׁיר צִיֹּון׃ | |
| 4 | How shall we sing Yahweh's song in a foreign land? | אֵיךְ נָשִׁיר אֶת־שִׁיר־יְהוָה עַל אַדְמַת נֵכָר׃ | |
| 5 | If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand wither! | אִם־אֶשְׁכָּחֵךְ יְרוּשָׁלִָם תִּשְׁכַּח יְמִינִי׃ | |
| 6 | Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I do not remember you, if I do not set Jerusalem above my highest joy! | תִּדְבַּק־לְשֹׁונִי לְחִכִּי אִם־לֹא אֶזְכְּרֵכִי אִם־לֹא אַעֲלֶה אֶת־יְרוּשָׁלִַם עַל רֹאשׁ שִׂמְחָתִי׃ | |
| 7 | Remember, O Yahweh, against the Edomites the day of Jerusalem, how they said, "Rase it, rase it! Down to its foundations!" | זְכֹר יְהוָה לִבְנֵי אֱדֹום אֵת יֹום יְרוּשָׁלִָם הָאֹמְרִים עָרוּ עָרוּ עַד הַיְסֹוד בָּהּ׃ | |
| 8 | O daughter of Babylon, you devastator! Happy shall he be who requites you with what you have done to us! | בַּת־בָּבֶל הַשְּׁדוּדָה אַשְׁרֵי שֶׁיְשַׁלֶּם־לָךְ אֶת־גְּמוּלֵךְ שֶׁגָּמַלְתְּ לָנוּ׃ | |
| 9 | Happy shall he be who takes your little ones and dashes them against the rock! | אַשְׁרֵי שֶׁיֹּאחֵז וְנִפֵּץ אֶת־עֹלָלַיִךְ אֶל־הַסָּלַע׃ | |
