135 katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE Passage Biblia Hebraica

135 1Praise Yahweh.
Praise the name of Yahweh,
give praise, O servants of Yahweh,
Praise the Lord!. Psalm 135(v134)
2you that stand in the house of Yahweh,
in the courts of the house of our God!
3Praise Yahweh, for Yahweh is good;
sing to his name, for he is gracious!
4For Yahweh has chosen Jacob for himself,
Israel as his own possession.
5For I know that Yahweh is great,
and that our Yahweh is above all gods.
6Whatever Yahweh pleases he does,
in heaven and on earth,
in the seas and all deeps.
7He it is who makes the clouds rise at the end of the earth,
who makes lightnings for the rain and brings forth the wind from his storehouses.
8He it was who smote the first-born of Egypt,
both of man and of beast;
9who in your midst, O Egypt, sent signs and wonders
against Pharaoh and all his servants;
10who smote many nations
and slew mighty kings,
11Sihon, king of the Amorites,
and Og, king of Bashan,
and all the kingdoms of Canaan,
12and gave their land as a heritage,
a heritage to his people Israel.
13Your name, O Yahweh, endures for ever,
your renown, O Yahweh, throughout all ages.
14For Yahweh will vindicate his people,
and have compassion on his servants.
15The idols of the nations are silver and gold,
the work of men's hands.
16They have mouths, but they speak not,
they have eyes, but they see not,
17they have ears, but they hear not,
nor is there any breath in their mouths.
18Like them be those who make them! -
yea, every one who trusts in them!
19O house of Israel, bless Yahweh!
O house of Aaron, bless Yahweh!
20O house of Levi, bless Yahweh!
You that fear Yahweh, bless Yahweh!
21Blessed be Yahweh from Zion,
he who dwells in Jerusalem!
Praise Yahweh!

Notes: This page displays passages from the katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE.
The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.

The katapi New Study Bible reference section displays links to parallel passages, and to direct quotations by New Testament authors to Old Testament passages. Quotations of OT passages by NT authors can in most cases be viewed within their context of the OT passage as a whole, with the quoted text displayed, against a subdued background.
