112 katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE Passage Biblia Hebraica

112 1Praise Yahweh.
Blessed is the man who fears Yahweh,
who greatly delights in his commandments!
Blessed is the Man who fears the Lord. Psalm 112(v111)
2His descendants will be mighty in the land;
the generation of the upright will be blessed.
3Wealth and riches are in his house;
and his righteousness endures for ever.
4Light rises in the darkness for the upright;
Yahweh is gracious, merciful, and righteous.
5It is well with the man who deals generously and lends,
who conducts his affairs with justice.
6For the righteous will never be moved;
he will be remembered for ever.
7He is not afraid of evil tidings;
his heart is firm, trusting in Yahweh.
8His heart is steady, he will not be afraid,
until he sees his desire on his adversaries.
9He has distributed freely,
he has given to the poor;
his righteousness endures for ever;
his horn is exalted in honour.
10The wicked man sees it and is angry;
he gnashes his teeth and melts away;
the desire of the wicked man comes to nought.

Notes: This page displays passages from the katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE.
The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.

The katapi New Study Bible reference section displays links to parallel passages, and to direct quotations by New Testament authors to Old Testament passages. Quotations of OT passages by NT authors can in most cases be viewed within their context of the OT passage as a whole, with the quoted text displayed, against a subdued background.
