| To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. | Prayer for Protection. Psalm 64(v63) | לַמְנַצֵּחַ מִזְמֹור לְדָוִד׃ | |
| 64 1 | Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint; preserve my life from dread of the enemy, | שְׁמַע־אֱלֹהִים קֹולִי בְשִׂיחִי מִפַּחַד אֹויֵב תִּצֹּר חַיָּי׃ | |
| 2 | hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, from the scheming of evildoers, | תַּסְתִּירֵנִי מִסֹּוד מְרֵעִים מֵרִגְשַׁת פֹּעֲלֵי אָוֶן׃ | |
| 3 | who whet their tongues like swords, who aim bitter words like arrows, | אֲשֶׁר שָׁנְנוּ כַחֶרֶב לְשֹׁונָם דָּרְכוּ חִצָּם דָּבָר מָר׃ | |
| 4 | shooting from ambush at the blameless, shooting at him suddenly and without fear. | לִירֹות בַּמִּסְתָּרִים תָּם פִּתְאֹם יֹרֻהוּ וְלֹא יִירָאוּ׃ | |
| 5 | They hold fast to their evil purpose; they talk of laying snares secretly, thinking, "Who can see us? | יְחַזְּקוּ־לָמֹו דָּבָר רָע יְסַפְּרוּ לִטְמֹון מֹוקְשִׁים אָמְרוּ מִי יִרְאֶה־לָּמֹו׃ | |
| 6 | Who can search out our crimes? We have thought out a cunningly conceived plot." For the inward mind and heart of a man are deep! | יַחְפְּשׂוּ־עֹולֹת תַּמְנוּ חֵפֶשׂ מְחֻפָּשׂ וְקֶרֶב אִישׁ וְלֵב עָמֹק׃ | |
| 7 | But God will shoot his arrow at them; they will be wounded suddenly. | וַיֹּרֵם אֱלֹהִים חֵץ פִּתְאֹום הָיוּ מַכֹּותָם׃ | |
| 8 | Because of their tongue he will bring them to ruin; all who see them will wag their heads. | וַיַּכְשִׁילוּהוּ עָלֵימֹו לְשֹׁונָם יִתְנֹדֲדוּ כָּל־רֹאֵה בָם׃ | |
| 9 | Then all men will fear; t hey will tell what God has wrought, and ponder what he has done. | וַיִּירְאוּ כָּל־אָדָם וַיַּגִּידוּ פֹּעַל אֱלֹהִים וּמַעֲשֵׂהוּ הִשְׂכִּילוּ׃ | |
| 10 | Let the righteous rejoice in Yahweh, and take refuge in him! Let all the upright in heart glory! | יִשְׂמַח צַדִּיק בַּיהוָה וְחָסָה בֹו וְיִתְהַלְלוּ כָּל־יִשְׁרֵי־לֵב׃ | |
