| To the choirmaster. | Penitential Psalm. Miserere. Psalm 51(v50) | בְּבֹוא־אֵלָיו נָתָן הַנָּבִיא כַּאֲשֶׁר־בָּא אֶל־בַּת־שָׁבַע׃ | |
| A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. | |||
| 51 1 | Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. | חָנֵּנִי אֱלֹהִים כְּחַסְדֶּךָ כְּרֹב רַחֲמֶיךָ מְחֵה פְשָׁעָי׃ | |
| 2 | Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! | כ= הַרְבֵּה ק= הֶרֶב כַּבְּסֵנִי מֵעֲוֹנִי וּמֵחַטָּאתִי טַהֲרֵנִי׃ | |
| 3 | For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. | כִּי־פְשָׁעַי אֲנִי אֵדָע וְחַטָּאתִי נֶגְדִּי תָמִיד׃ | |
| 4 | Against you, you only, have I sinned, and done that which is evil in your sight, so that you are justified in your sentence and blameless in your judgment. | לְךָ לְבַדְּכָ חָטָאתִי וְהָרַע בְּעֵינֶיךָ עָשִׂיתִי לְמַעַן תִּצְדַּק בְּדָבְרֶךָ תִּזְכֶּה בְשָׁפְטֶךָ׃ | |
| 5 | Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me. | הֵן־בְּעָוֹון חֹולָלְתִּי וּבְחֵטְא יֶחֱמַתְנִי אִמִּי׃ | |
| 6 | Behold, you desire truth in the inward being; therefore teach me wisdom in my secret heart. | הֵן־אֱמֶת חָפַצְתָּ בַטֻּחֹות וּבְסָתֻם חָכְמָה תֹודִיעֵנִי׃ | |
| 7 | Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. | תְּחַטְּאֵנִי בְאֵזֹוב וְאֶטְהָר תְּכַבְּסֵנִי וּמִשֶּׁלֶג אַלְבִּין׃ | |
| 8 | Fill me with joy and gladness; let the bones which you have broken rejoice. | תַּשְׁמִיעֵנִי שָׂשֹׂון וְשִׂמְחָה תָּגֵלְנָה עֲצָמֹות דִּכִּיתָ׃ | |
| 9 | Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. | הַסְתֵּר פָּנֶיךָ מֵחֲטָאָי וְכָל־עֲוֹנֹתַי מְחֵה׃ | |
| 10 | Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me. | לֵב טָהֹור בְּרָא־לִי אֱלֹהִים וְרוּחַ נָכֹון חַדֵּשׁ בְּקִרְבִּי׃ | |
| 11 | Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your holy Spirit from me. | אַל־תַּשְׁלִיכֵנִי מִלְּפָנֶיךָ וְרוּחַ קָדְשְׁךָ אַל־תִּקַּח מִמֶּנִּי׃ | |
| 12 | Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. | הָשִׁיבָה לִּי שְׂשֹׂון יִשְׁעֶךָ וְרוּחַ נְדִיבָה תִסְמְכֵנִי׃ | |
| 13 | Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you. | אֲלַמְּדָה פֹשְׁעִים דְּרָכֶיךָ וְחַטָּאִים אֵלֶיךָ יָשׁוּבוּ׃ | |
| 14 | Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing aloud of your deliverance. | הַצִּילֵנִי מִדָּמִים אֱלֹהִים אֱלֹהֵי תְּשׁוּעָתִי תְּרַןֵּן לְשֹׁונִי צִדְקָתֶךָ׃ | |
| 15 | O Yahweh, open my lips, and my mouth shall show forth your praise. | אֲדֹנָי שְׂפָתַי תִּפְתָּח וּפִי יַגִּיד תְּהִלָּתֶךָ׃ | |
| 16 | For you have no delight in sacrifice; were I to give a burnt offering, you would not be pleased. | כִּי לֹא־תַחְפֹּץ זֶבַח וְאֶתֵּנָה עֹולָה לֹא תִרְצֶה׃ | |
| 17 | The sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. | זִבְחֵי אֱלֹהִים רוּחַ נִשְׁבָּרָה לֵב־נִשְׁבָּר וְנִדְכֶּה אֱלֹהִים לֹא תִבְזֶה׃ | |
| 18 | Do good to Zion in your good pleasure; rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, | הֵיטִיבָה בִרְצֹונְךָ אֶת־צִיֹּון תִּבְנֶה חֹומֹות יְרוּשָׁלִָם׃ | |
| 19 | then will you delight in right sacrifices, in burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings; then bulls will be offered on your alter. | אָז תַּחְפֹּץ זִבְחֵי־צֶדֶק עֹולָה וְכָלִיל אָז יַעֲלוּ עַל־מִזְבַּחֲךָ פָרִים׃ | |
