8Some Gadites also joined David at the stronghold in the wilderness, valiant men trained for war, who could handle the heavy shield and spear, grim as lions and swift as gazelles on the hills. David's Soldiers from Gad. 1Chr.12.8-15וּמִן־הַגָּדִי נִבְדְּלוּ אֶל־דָּוִיד לַמְצַד מִדְבָּרָה גִּבֹּרֵי הַחַיִל אַנְשֵׁי צָבָא לַמִּלְחָמָה עֹרְכֵי צִנָּה וָרֹמַח וּפְנֵי אַרְיֵה פְּנֵיהֶם וְכִצְבָאיִם עַל־הֶהָרִים לְמַהֵר׃ ס
9Ezer was their chief, Obadiah the second, Eliab the third;  עֵזֶר הָרֹאשׁ עֹבַדְיָה הַשֵּׁנִי אֱלִיאָב הַשְּׁלִשִׁי׃
10Mishmannah the fourth and Jeremiah the fifth;  מִשְׁמַנָּה הָרְבִיעִי יִרְמְיָה הַחֲמִשִׁי׃
11Attai the sixth and Eliel the seventh;  עַתַּי הַשִּׁשִּׁי אֱלִיאֵל הַשְּׁבִעִי׃
12Johanan the eighth and Elzabad the ninth;  יֹוחָןָן הַשְּׁמִינִי אֶלְזָבָד הַתְּשִׁיעִי׃
13Jeremiah the tenth and Machbanai the eleventh.  יִרְמְיָהוּ הָעֲשִׂירִי ס מַכְבַּנַּי עַשְׁתֵּי עָשָׂר׃
14These were chiefs of the Gadites in the army, the least of them a match for a hundred, the greatest a match for a thousand.  אֵלֶּה מִבְּנֵי־גָד רָאשֵׁי הַצָּבָא אֶחָד לְמֵאָה הַקָּטָן וְהַגָּדֹול לְאָלֶף׃
15These were the men who in the first month crossed the Jordan, which was in full flood in all its reaches, and wrought havoc in the valleys, east and west.

 אֵלֶּה הֵם אֲשֶׁר עָבְרוּ אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּן בַּחֹדֶשׁ הָרִאשֹׁון וְהוּא מְמַלֵּא עַל־כָּל־כ= גִּדיֹתָיו ק= גְּדֹותָיו וַיַּבְרִיחוּ אֶת־כָּל־הָעֲמָקִים לַמִּזְרָח וְלַמַּעֲרָב׃ ס
