| 18 | Until then they had all been door-keepers in the quarters of the Levites at the king's gate, on the east. | | וְעַד־הֵנָּה בְּשַׁעַר הַמֶּלֶךְ מִזְרָחָה הֵמָּה הַשֹּׁעֲרִים לְמַחֲנֹות בְּנֵי לֵוִי׃ |

| 21 | Zechariah son of Meshelemiah was the door-keeper of the Tent of the Presence. | | זְכַרְיָה בֶּן מְשֶׁלֶמְיָה שֹׁעֵר פֶּתַח לְאֹהֶל מֹועֵד׃ |

| 22 | Those picked to be door-keepers numbered two hundred and twelve in all, registered in their hamlets. | 24 | The door-keepers were to be on four sides, east, west, north, and south. | | לְאַרְבַּע רוּחֹות יִהְיוּ הַשֹּׁעֲרִים מִזְרָח יָמָּה צָפֹונָה וָנֶגְבָּה׃ |

| 25 | Their kinsmen from their hamlets had to come on duty with them for seven days at a time in turn. | | וַאֲחֵיהֶם בְּחַצְרֵיהֶם לָבֹוא לְשִׁבְעַת הַיָּמִים מֵעֵת אֶל־עֵת עִם־אֵלֶּה׃ |

| 26 | The four principal door-keepers were chosen for their trustworthiness; they were Levites and had charge of the rooms and the stores in the house of God. | | כִּי בֶאֱמוּנָה הֵמָּה אַרְבַּעַת גִּבֹּרֵי הַשֹּׁעֲרִים הֵם הַלְוִיִּם וְהָיוּ עַל־הַלְּשָׁכֹות וְעַל הָאֹצְרֹות בֵּית הָאֱלֹהִים׃ |

| 27 | They always slept in the precincts of the house of God (for the watch was their duty) and they had charge of the key for opening the gates every morning. | | וּסְבִיבֹות בֵּית־הָאֱלֹהִים יָלִינוּ כִּי־עֲלֵיהֶם מִשְׁמֶרֶת וְהֵם עַל־הַמַּפְתֵּחַ וְלַבֹּקֶר לַבֹּקֶר׃ |
