24The sons of Simeon: Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Saul, Generations - Simeon. 1Chr.4.24-43בְּנֵי שִׁמְעֹון נְמוּאֵל וְיָמִין יָרִיב זֶרַח שָׁאוּל׃
25his son Shallum, his son Mibsam and his son Mishma.  שַׁלֻּם בְּנֹו מִבְשָׂם בְּנֹו מִשְׁמָע בְּנֹו׃
26The sons of Mishma: his son Hamuel, his son Zaccur and his son Shimei.  וּבְנֵי מִשְׁמָע חַמּוּאֵל בְּנֹו זַכּוּר בְּנֹו שִׁמְעִי בְנֹו׃
27Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters, but others of his family had fewer children, and the clan as a whole did not increase as much as the tribe of Judah.  וּלְשִׁמְעִי בָּנִים שִׁשָּׁה עָשָׂר וּבָנֹות שֵׁשׁ וּלְאֶחָיו אֵין בָּנִים רַבִּים וְכֹל מִשְׁפַּחְתָּם לֹא הִרְבּוּ עַד־בְּנֵי יְהוּדָה׃ ס
28They lived at Beersheba, Moladah, Hazar-shual,  וַיֵּשְׁבוּ בִּבְאֵר־שֶׁבַע וּמֹולָדָה וַחֲצַר שׁוּעָל׃
29Bilhah, Ezem, Tolad,  וּבְבִלְהָה וּבְעֶצֶם וּבְתֹולָד׃
30Bethuel, Hormah, Ziklag,  וּבִבְתוּאֵל וּבְחָרְמָה וּבְצִיקְלָג׃
31Beth-marcaboth, Hazar-susim, Beth-birei, and Shaaraim. These were their cities until David came to the throne.  וּבְבֵית מַרְכָּבֹות וּבַחֲצַר סוּסִים וּבְבֵית בִּרְאִי וּבְשַׁעֲרָיִם אֵלֶּה עָרֵיהֶם עַד־מְלֹךְ דָּוִיד׃
32Their settlements prob. rdg, Heb hamlets were Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Tochen, and Ashan, five cities in all.  וְחַצְרֵיהֶם עֵיטָם וָעַיִן רִמֹּון וְתֹכֶן וְעָשָׁן עָרִים חָמֵשׁ׃
33They had also hamlets round these cities as far as Baal. These were the places where they lived.

The names on their register were:
 וְכָל־חַצְרֵיהֶם אֲשֶׁר סְבִיבֹות הֶעָרִים הָאֵלֶּה עַד־בָּעַל זֹאת מֹושְׁבֹתָם וְהִתְיַחְשָׂם לָהֶם׃
34Meshobab, Jamlech, Joshah son of Amaziah,  וּמְשֹׁובָב וְיַמְלֵךְ וְיֹושָׁה בֶּן־אֲמַצְיָה׃
35Joel, Jehu son of Josibiah, son of Seraiah, son of Asiel,  וְיֹואֵל וְיֵהוּא בֶּן־יֹושִׁבְיָה בֶּן־שְׂרָיָה בֶּן־עֲשִׂיאֵל׃
36Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah,  וְאֶלְיֹועֵינַי וְיַעֲקֹבָה וִישֹׁוחָיָה וַעֲשָׂיָה וַעֲדִיאֵל וִישִׂימִאֵל וּבְנָיָה׃
37Ziza son of Shiphi, son of Allon, son of Jedaiah, son of Shimri, son of Shemaiah,  וְזִיזָא בֶן־שִׁפְעִי בֶן־אַלֹּון בֶּן־יְדָיָה בֶן־שִׁמְרִי בֶּן־שְׁמַעְיָה׃
38whose names are recorded as princes in their clans, and their families had greatly increased.  אֵלֶּה הַבָּאִים בְּשֵׁמֹות נְשִׂיאִים בְּמִשְׁפְּחֹותָם וּבֵית אֲבֹותֵיהֶם פָּרְצוּ לָרֹוב׃
39They then went from the approaches to Gedor east of the valley in search of pasture for their flocks.  וַיֵּלְכוּ לִמְבֹוא גְדֹר עַד לְמִזְרַח הַגָּיְא לְבַקֵּשׁ מִרְעֶה לְצֹאנָם׃
40They found rich and good pasture in a wide stretch of open country where everything was quiet and peaceful; before then it had been occupied by Hamites.  וַיִּמְצְאוּ מִרְעֶה שָׁמֵן וָטֹוב וְהָאָרֶץ רַחֲבַת יָדַיִם וְשֹׁקֶטֶת וּשְׁלֵוָה כִּי מִן־חָם הַיֹּשְׁבִים שָׁם לְפָנִים׃
41During the reign of Hezekiah king of Judah these whose names are written above came and destroyed the tribes of Ham the tribes of Ham: prob. rdg, cp v40; Heb their tribes and the Meunites whom they found there. They annihilated them so that no trace of them has remained to this day; and they occupied the land in their place, for there was pasture for their flocks.  וַיָּבֹאוּ אֵלֶּה הַכְּתוּבִים בְּשֵׁמֹות בִּימֵי יְחִזְקִיָּהוּ מֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָה וַיַּכּוּ אֶת־אָהֳלֵיהֶם וְאֶת־כ= הַמְּעִינִים ק= הַמְּעוּנִים אֲשֶׁר נִמְצְאוּ־שָׁמָּה וַיַּחֲרִיםֻם עַד־הַיֹּום הַזֶּה וַיֵּשְׁבוּ תַּחְתֵּיהֶם כִּי־מִרְעֶה לְצֹאנָם שָׁם׃
42Of their number five hundred Simeonites invaded the hill-country of Seir, led by Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.  וּמֵהֶם מִן־בְּנֵי שִׁמְעֹון הָלְכוּ לְהַר שֵׂעִיר אֲנָשִׁים חֲמֵשׁ מֵאֹות וּפְלַטְיָה וּנְעַרְיָה וּרְפָיָה וְעֻזִּיאֵל בְּנֵי יִשְׁעִי בְּרֹאשָׁם׃
43They destroyed all who were left of the surviving Amalekites; and they live there still.  וַיַּכּוּ אֶת־שְׁאֵרִית הַפְּלֵטָה לַעֲמָלֵק וַיֵּשְׁבוּ שָׁם עַד הַיֹּום הַזֶּה׃
