9 1	And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.	God's covenant with Noah. Gn.9.1-17	וַיְבָרֶךְ אֱלֹהִים אֶת־נֹחַ וְאֶת־בָּנָיו וַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם פְּרוּ וּרְבוּ וּמִלְאוּ אֶת־הָאָרֶץ׃
2	The fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every bird of the air, upon everything that creeps on the ground and all the fish of the sea; into your hand they are delivered.		וּמֹורַאֲכֶם וְחִתְּכֶם יִהְיֶה עַל כָּל־חַיַּת הָאָרֶץ וְעַל כָּל־עֹוף הַשָּׁמָיִם בְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר תִּרְמֹשׂ הָאֲדָמָה וּבְכָל־דְּגֵי הַיָּם בְּיֶדְכֶם נִתָּנוּ׃
3	Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you; and as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything.		כָּל־רֶמֶשׂ אֲשֶׁר הוּא־חַי לָכֶם יִהְיֶה לְאָכְלָה כְּיֶרֶק עֵשֶׂב נָתַתִּי לָכֶם אֶת־כֹּל׃
4	Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.		אַךְ־בָּשָׂר בְּנַפְשֹׁו דָמֹו לֹא תֹאכֵלוּ׃
5	For your lifeblood I will surely require a reckoning; of every beast I will require it and of man; of every man's brother I will require the life of man.		וְאַךְ אֶת־דִּםְכֶם לְנַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם אֶדְרֹשׁ מִיַּד כָּל־חַיָּה אֶדְרְשֶׁנּוּ וּמִיַּד הָאָדָם מִיַּד אִישׁ אָחִיו אֶדְרֹשׁ אֶת־נֶפֶשׁ הָאָדָם׃
6	Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for God made man in his own image.		שֹׁפֵךְ דַּם הָאָדָם בָּאָדָם דָּמֹו יִשָּׁפֵךְ כִּי בְּצֶלֶם אֱלֹהִים עָשָׂה אֶת־הָאָדָם׃
7	And you, be fruitful and multiply, bring forth abundantly on the earth and multiply in it."		וְאַתֶּם פְּרוּ וּרְבוּ שִׁרְצוּ בָאָרֶץ וּרְבוּ־בָהּ׃ ס
8	Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him,		וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים אֶל־נֹחַ וְאֶל־בָּנָיו אִתֹּו לֵאמֹר׃
9	"Behold, I establish my covenant with you and your descendants after you,		וַאֲנִי הִנְנִי מֵקִים אֶת־בְּרִיתִי אִתְּכֶם וְאֶת־זַרְעֲכֶם אַחֲרֵיכֶם׃
10	and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the cattle, and every beast of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark.		וְאֵת כָּל־נֶפֶשׁ הַחַיָּה אֲשֶׁר אִתְּכֶם בָּעֹוף בַּבְּהֵמָה וּבְכָל־חַיַּת הָאָרֶץ אִתְּכֶם מִכֹּל יֹצְאֵי הַתֵּבָה לְכֹל חַיַּת הָאָרֶץ׃
11	I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of a flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth."		וַהֲקִמֹתִי אֶת־בְּרִיתִי אִתְּכֶם וְלֹא־יִכָּרֵת כָּל־בָּשָׂר עֹוד מִמֵּי הַמַּבּוּל וְלֹא־יִהְיֶה עֹוד מַבּוּל לְשַׁחֵת הָאָרֶץ׃
12	And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations:		וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים זֹאת אֹות־הַבְּרִית אֲשֶׁר־אֲנִי נֹתֵן בֵּינִי וּבֵינֵיכֶם וּבֵין כָּל־נֶפֶשׁ חַיָּה אֲשֶׁר אִתְּכֶם לְדֹרֹת עֹולָם׃
13	I set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.		אֶת־קַשְׁתִּי נָתַתִּי בֶּעָןָן וְהָיְתָה לְאֹות בְּרִית בֵּינִי וּבֵין הָאָרֶץ׃
14	When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds,		וְהָיָה בְּעַנְנִי עָןָן עַל־הָאָרֶץ וְנִרְאֲתָה הַקֶּשֶׁת בֶּעָןָן׃
15	I will remember my covenant which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh.		וְזָכַרְתִּי אֶת־בְּרִיתִי אֲשֶׁר בֵּינִי וּבֵינֵיכֶם וּבֵין כָּל־נֶפֶשׁ חַיָּה בְּכָל־בָּשָׂר וְלֹא־יִהְיֶה עֹוד הַמַּיִם לְמַבּוּל לְשַׁחֵת כָּל־בָּשָׂר׃
16	When the bow is in the clouds, I will look upon it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth."		וְהָיְתָה הַקֶּשֶׁת בֶּעָןָן וּרְאִיתִיהָ לִזְכֹּר בְּרִית עֹולָם בֵּין אֱלֹהִים וּבֵין כָּל־נֶפֶשׁ חַיָּה בְּכָל־בָּשָׂר אֲשֶׁר עַל־הָאָרֶץ׃
17	God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth."		וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים אֶל־נֹחַ זֹאת אֹות־הַבְּרִית אֲשֶׁר הֲקִמֹתִי בֵּינִי וּבֵין כָּל־בָּשָׂר אֲשֶׁר עַל־הָאָרֶץ׃ ף

The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.

Quotations of OT passages by NT authors can in most cases be viewed within their context of the OT passage as a whole, with the quoted text displayed, against a subdued background.
