| In many and various ways God spoke of old to our fathers by the prophets; | God has Spoken by His Son Hb.1.1-4 | Πολυμερῶς καὶ πολυτρόπως πάλαι ὁ θεὸς λαλήσας τοῖς πατράσιν ἐν τοῖς προφήταις
| but in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.
| He reflects the glory of God and bears the very stamp of his nature, upholding the universe by his word of power. When he had made purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, | ὃς ὢν ἀπαύγασμα τῆς δόξης καὶ χαρακτὴρ τῆς ὑποστάσεως αὐτοῦ, φέρων τε τὰ πάντα τῷ ῥήματι τῆς δυνάμεως αὐτοῦ, καθαρισμὸν τῶν ἀμαρτιῶν ποιησάμενος ἐκάθισεν ἐν δεξιᾷ τῆς μεγαλωσύνης ἐν ὑψηλοῖς,
| having become as much superior to angels as the name he has obtained is more excellent than theirs.
| For to what angel did God ever say, "You are my Son, "I will be to him a father, | The Son Superior to Angels Hb.1.5-14 | | | Τίνι γὰρ εἶπέν ποτε τῶν ἀγγέλων, Υἱός μου εἶ σύ, Ἐγὼ ἔσομαι αὐτῷ εἰς πατέρα,
| And again, when he brings the first-born into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him." | - Let all God's angels worship him.
| Of the angels he says, "Who makes his angels winds, | - Who makes his angels winds, and his servants flames of fire.
| But of the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, is for ever and ever, | - Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever Hb.1.8-9 | Ps.45.6-7 | πρὸς δὲ τὸν υἱόν, Ὁ θεός, εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τοῦ αἰῶνος,
| You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your comrades."
| And, "You, Lord, founded the earth in the beginning, | - Thou, Lord, didst found the earth in the beginning Hb.1.10-12 | Ps.102.25-27 | καί, Σὺ κατ' ἀρχάς, κύριε, τὴν γῆν ἐθεμελίωσας,
| they will perish, but you remain; they will all grow old like a garment, | αὐτοὶ ἀπολοῦνται, σὺ δὲ διαμένεις· καὶ πάντες ὡς ἱμάτιον παλαιωθήσονται,
| like a mantle you will roll them up, and they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will never end."
| But to what angel has he ever said, "Sit at my right hand, | - Sit at my right hand, till I make thy enemies a stool for thy feet Hb.1.13 | Ps.110.1 | πρὸς τίνα δὲ τῶν ἀγγέλων εἰρηκέν ποτε, Kάθου ἐκ δεξιῶν μου
| Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to serve, for the sake of all those who are to obtain salvation. | οὐχὶ πάντες εἰσὶν λειτουργικὰ πνεύματα εἰς διακονίαν ἀποστελλόμενα διὰ τοὺς μέλλοντας κληρονομεῖν σωτηρίαν;
