For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, | | ἐσονται γὰρ οἱ ἄνθρωποι φίλαυτοι, φιλάργυροι, ἀλαζόνες, ὑπερήφανοι, βλάσφημοι, γονεῦσιν ἀπειθεῖς, ἀχάριστοι, ἀνόσιοι, |

inhuman, implacable, slanderers, profligates, fierce, haters of good, | | ἀστοργοι, ἀσπονδοι, διάβολοι, ἀκρατεῖς, ἀνήμεροι, ἀφιλάγαθοι, |

treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, | | προδόται, προπετεῖς, τετυφωμένοι, φιλήδονοι μᾶλλον ἢ φιλόθεοι, |
| 5 |
holding the form of religion but denying the power of it. Avoid such people. | | ἐχοντες μόρφωσιν εὐσεβείας τὴν δὲ δύναμιν αὐτῆς ἠρνημένοι· καὶ τούτους ἀποτρέπου. |

For among them are those who make their way into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and swayed by various impulses, | | ἐκ τούτων γάρ εἰσιν οἱ ἐνδύνοντες εἰς τὰς οἰκίας καὶ αἰχμαλωτίζοντες γυναικάρια σεσωρευμένα ἀμαρτίαις, ἀγόμενα ἐπιθυμίαις ποικίλαις, |

who will listen to anybody and can never arrive at a knowledge of the truth. | | πάντοτε μανθάνοντα καὶ μηδέποτε εἰς ἐπίγνωσιν ἀληθείας ἐλθεῖν δυνάμενα. |

As Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of corrupt mind and counterfeit faith; | | ὃν τρόπον δὲ Ἰάννης καὶ Ἰαμβρῆς ἀντέστησαν Μωϋσεῖ, οὑτως καὶ οὗτοι ἀνθίστανται τῇ ἀληθείᾳ, ἄνθρωποι κατεφθαρμένοι τὸν νοῦν, ἀδόκιμοι περὶ τὴν πίστιν· |

but they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men. | | ἀλλ' οὐ προκόψουσιν ἐπὶ πλεῖον, ἡ γὰρ ἀνοια αὐτῶν ἐκδηλος ἐσται πᾶσιν, ὡς καὶ ἡ ἐκείνων ἐγένετο. |

my persecutions, my sufferings, what befell me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra, what persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me. | | τοῖς διωγμοῖς, τοῖς παθήμασιν, οἷά μοι ἐγένετο ἐν Ἀντιοχείᾳ, ἐν Ἰκονίῳ, ἐν Λύστροις, οἱους διωγμοὺς ὑπήνεγκα· καὶ ἐκ πάντων με ἐρρύσατο ὁ κύριος. |

Indeed all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, | | καὶ πάντες δὲ οἱ θέλοντες εὐσεβῶς ζῆν ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ διωχθήσονται· |

while evil men and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceivers and deceived. | | πονηροὶ δὲ ἄνθρωποι καὶ γόητες προκόψουσιν ἐπὶ τὸ χεῖρον, πλανῶντες καὶ πλανώμενοι. |

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it | | σὺ δὲ μένε ἐν οἷς ἐμαθες καὶ ἐπιστώθης, εἰδὼς παρὰ τίνων ἐμαθες, |
| 15 |
and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings which are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. | | καὶ ὅτι ἀπὸ βρέφους ἱερὰ γράμματα οἶδας, τὰ δυνάμενά σε σοφίσαι εἰς σωτηρίαν διὰ πίστεως τῆς ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ. |

All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, | | πᾶσα γραφὴ θεόπνευστος καὶ ὠφέλιμος πρὸς διδασκαλίαν, πρὸς ἐλεγμόν, πρὸς ἐπανόρθωσιν, πρὸς παιδείαν τὴν ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ, |

that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. | | ἵνα ἀρτιος ᾖ ὁ τοῦ θεοῦ ἄνθρωπος, πρὸς πᾶν ἐργον ἀγαθὸν ἐξηρτισμένος. |
